3 Votes in the NCAAFB Final Coach's Poll

too bad Clawson is not a voter; we'd have had at least 4 votes

voters include coaches from:
App St (explains App's 2 votes)
Utah St
NC State
Georgia Tech
Clemson
2018 opponents Tulane and Pitt

I'm guessing our votes came from that list

Ohio and San Diego State each got one vote and by coincidence their head coaches both vote

I'm cool with the way it all shook out. Mainly because I remmeber the 0-11 years and the 1-10 years. They weren't that long ago.

Not trying to be a dick, but our last 1 win season was 1995, which is 22 years ago, and an eternity in the college football landscape. Before that we won 1 game in 1978.

Things haven't been great overall for Wake football, but it's not like recently we have been compiling a ton of 0-1 win teams.

Whatevs bruh, no offense taken. Check out them 2-9 and 3-8 seasons too. I haven't looked at our past history season records but am just going off memory. Maybe they were more 3-8 type season. Point still stands.

I'm 30 and remember having a bunch of shitty times at Wake games. Not nearly as bad as the oldtimers here but we were no bueno.

I was at MSD in the mid 80's during Groh's tenure and the best record that he could muster was 4-7 back then.

But we did air it out on O with the likes of Schofield at QB so even though we often got beat it was fun to watch. :p

Wake has to have had at least 10 years where they finished with 3 or fewer wins over the past 30 years right? I may be way off, but am too lazy to look right now.

ETA: Decided not to be lazy and just google it. Since 1987, we've finished with 3 or fewer wins in 12 of 30 years, but seven of those twelve occurred 1996 or earlier.

Also based on the SRS system (taking into account average point differential and strength of schedule), 2017 Wake was the second best team in program history - behind only the 1946 team.

The 20-25 year old's have no idea how good they have it as Wake Football fans. I mean, hell, I'd throw myself in that category. Folks around our age(30) have witnessed more bowl victories than every generation before us saw us make bowl games, and it isn't even close. We are 7-2 in bowl games in my lifetime.

Before I was born, we were 1-2 in bowl games in our entire history.

Not to sound lame but we have been as competitive over the last 20 years, consistently, as we've been in our history, sans a few seasons.

We were 6-5 in 1984. That was high water mark of his tenure. Beat State, UNC and Duke that year. (And App St)

Foy White was behind center. That was the first year I remember the Raycom broadcasts of ACC football and I think we were on there a few times that season. Prior to that, it was very rare for us to be on TV.

My time at Wake featured Aloha Bowl and Seattle Bowl wins and a field-storming win over GT.

I was a kid at the time but I also stormed the field against Ga Tech. I remember feeling euphoric when they flashed on the scoreboard "Aloha Bound" when we won that game.

It was. Before that ABC sports basically had a monopoly on college football broadcast. I remember a VT game in 1981 being on tv. Things really changed before the 1984 season.

Didn't make the GaTech game, but sure enjoyed the Aloha Bowl that came as a result of that win. Fun spending Christmas in Honolulu.

We had a hotshot QB transfer from Georgia, Jamie Harris, who started the season. But he got knocked out of the opening game against Bruce Smith and VT.
