I understand many will be upset at these grades, but here goes:

DORAL - B+ - His meteoric growth should have gotten him A or even A-, but his FT shooting was so atrocious, it cost him. He improved in the off-season and got better as the season went on. The staff fixed his early weak hands by showing him how to use his hips and shoulders to keep defenders away. Occasionally, he understandably about not getting the ball, but at the end of the season he turned that into working harder to make himself available. Next could be a monster for him.

DONOVAN- B - Most likely the second most improved player. His improvement grew during the season. It looks like he's going to be a really nice player off the bench next year. Definitely surprised by his three point shooting and hope he keeps working on it. Needs to add strength. Was also pleasantly surprised at his ability to bring the ball up against a press or off a rebound. His defense was improving as was his positioning.

SARR- B - He does a lot of things few seven footers can. His mobility, pick setting and defense can set him apart. The first thing that should happen is Danny should give him basically a month off. He was bone tired and looked it several times. During this month, he should do some light lifting, FT shooting and shoot some threes. Yes, that's a month off. It's not much there. When he gets back from home in July, start the real work of adding weight, strength and shooting. Danny needs to work him into starting next to Doral.

CHAUNDEE - C - By the end of the season, Chaundee was probably our best defender. His biggest problems were trying too hard and Danny not playing him enough. Hopefully, both of these will change next season. He should learn not to be at 110% all the time. When he does, he'll improve a lot.

BRYANT - C/C- - I can hear the howls already. He had a disappointing season. There is no doubt about this. But the reality is he kept us in most games and without him, we may not have won a single ACC game. He was the only one who looked for Doral on a consistent basis. He should have a better season next year with more talent around him.

KEYSHAWN - C/C- - This shooting trailed off, but that could have been due to the injury. His defense was bad, but he was forced to play out of position a lot of the time. He seemed to lose intensity and his D was just plain bad. If he comes back next year, his role will be perfect for him. He can be our version of Vinnie Johnson or Lou Williams or Jamal Crawford. He won't have to play any SF or PF except in end of games while we protect leads and use FT shooting.

BRANDON - C- - He actually regressed. He must dribbling too much and driving without playing into contact. He also need to look for Doral more often.

WILBEKIN - C- - Although his 3 point shooting percentage was good, he hesitated. His D was atrocious.

TT - D - It's not his fault. He's just not an ACC player.

MELO- INC - He improved and is a really active player. Hopefully, he'll continue his improvement and get some PT next year.

SUNDAY - INC - Didn't play much, but plays really hard. He needs to work on a lot, but his effort is top notch.

DANNY - D - I can hear the moans. He had a terrible season. We should have won about 4 more games, but this team was not going to be much better than that. His substitution patterns were terrible. His use of timeouts was puzzling. His use three and four guards (many times without Chaundee) was wrong. What saves him from an F is that Doral improved massively in ways that were obviously done by coaching. Donovan also improved a lot. Next year is make or break for Danny. No Dance, no job. It's that simple.

I know many of you are going to say, "grade inflation". That would be wrong. The grades are based on the ability of the players and how they played according to their ability. Regardless of what many thought. we were grossly undertalented for the ACC. You can't expect miracles.

Sounds like the aggregate grade is around a C+...if you get a C+ then I doubt you should finish the year in 14th place unless everyone above us made the Dean's list.

Looks like a Top 25 pre-season squad to me!!!

To say we should have only won four more games is ludicrous rjing.

There are only three players who got better than a C. Two of whom don't play a lot. Four of the five most prominent players get C/C- or straight C-.

I said we should have more games.

Interesting grades. Some I agree with some I don't, but you make good points for the basis of grades. I disagree w/Manning. I was a much bigger believer in him early in the season with the overall recruiting, the way he represents Wake, no serious "team" issues. Also, he was forced to deal with the defections of JC & Dinos, and I hoped that this team would over-achieve. However, the early losses to Ga Southern, Drake, and Liberty set into motion a monumental collapse. I honestly believe that a much stronger and better coach could have righted the ship and salvaged more than 4 wins. I had hoped Manning (and staff) would have been up for that challenge, but they have failed miserably. My grade for the Manning and the staff is an F. I think almost every other coach in the ACC could have done better w/this team and talent.

Sarr a B?

lololololololol

This team should have won 7 or 8 games in the ACC and should have had a marquee win like BC did. Plus 3 OOC games.

No reasons we shouldn't have 17 or 18 wins right now.

Manning was an utter failure this year as a coach.

In the prediction thread, you said this team had the potential to win as many as 23 games.

RJ, I think you're overrating Crawford's season again. I think most of us at the beginning of the season would have said the season really depends on how Doral plays. Well, we ended up getting a phenomenal season out of Doral. And yet we sucked. Crawford is probably the most enigmatic player we've had in a long time. Even Devin was more consistent than this. When we get an efficient line out of Crawford, we're good. When we get a 7/17, 6+ TO game, we're toast. But I do get that he's really physically talented and has kept us in games at times. However, we're a better team when the ball moves around the horn.

IF a number of things ALL happened. But keep being yourself and telling half of the story.

I'd agree with this. Might knock him to a solid B for conditioning and asking to come out at some critical points in the game (and I realize this has greatly improved, but you get grades for performance, not improvement). But overall good year and good trajectory for Moore

I'm fine with this - MItchell was a pleasant surprise

Too High. I think you're grading him on potential and not what he actually did this year (and making excuses for that performance). I think he gets a solid C/C- b/c he's a freshman. He showed some flashes on offense and defense, but nothing more. Both should improve with time in the weight room, so I wouldn't knock him too much for this, but he also looked really lost a lot on both offense and defense. Often out of position on D and disrupting the flow of the offense (such as there was any). I think he still can be really good, but didn't really deliver on that promise this year.

CHAUNDEE - C - By the end of the season, Chaundee was probably our best defender. His biggest problems were trying too hard and Danny not playing him enough. Hopefully, both of these will change next season. He should learn not to be at 110% all the time. When he does, he'll improve a lot.
probably C+ for me - needed more run to get comfortable, but should have been an integral piece to having a better squad this year.

C- - turned in some A performances and some D- performances. Really needed him (or someone) to emerge as a leader and he never did. Scoring ability keeps him at a passing grade, but just barely

KEYSHAWN - C/C- - This shooting trailed off, but that could have been due to the injury. His defense was bad, but he was forced to play out of position a lot of the time. The sum of the team was less than its parts. D- teetering on an F for the season - decent recruiting and improvement of big men (including Sunday) keeps it from being a solid F. Not sure if the program as a whole regressed this year, but has no positive momentum (after having significant momentum entering the season)

Doral is pretty much on a linear track from his freshman year. His performance last year was the outlier.

Again, this was a freshman who went 19/13 and 13/8 in his only two ACC games with 20 minutes as a rookie.

Is Mitchell any good other than as a catch and shoot 4? I haven’t really watched much but he seems like a low utilization guy. How are his advanced rebounding numbers? Does he do anything special on defense?
