Official 2018 NBA Offseason Thread: the preseason cometh

Year 4 of what? This is KD’s second year. The Big 4 are 28-30 years old. This could easily go for another 5 years.

He'll decline the player option at the end of the season and re-sign this summer for between 2 and 4 years.

I don't think Golden State loses another game this year.

Also think we are looking at Celtics-Warriors finals for the next 4-5 years. Maybe starting this year. Only X factor is Lebron.

The problem is no other team can play like the Warriors and win. They have two league MVPs, another deadeye shooter, a lockdown defender who can run the point forward and still drop 25 on you if asked to do so, and a few bench players who could start elsewhere in the league. KD (who is a POS) makes it even more improbable.

Comparable to the Lakers with Magic, Kareem, and Worthy. Just too much talent in one place.

This is an overstatement IMO. Name the Warriors bench player who would start elsewhere in the league. Kevan Looney? ZaZa? Today's David West? They have a serviceable bench because they have a great coaching staff, but there are better benches around the league. That's what happens when you pay 4 players a shit ton of money.

For my money, I like today's Utah and Toronto bench. Also the Heat can roll out 4 or 5 guys (when they are all helathy) who can drop 20 in a quarter or block some shots or play some D. Heck, even the Lakers bench these days is looking pretty impressive. Warriors? Eh.

Lol last week the dubs were maybe as good as the Malone jazz or kemp’s Sonics now they’re Jordan’s bulls plus Hakeem. Lolololol kd got y’all shook.

Shaun Livingston could start lots of places. Iguodala hasn't been a starter since 2014-2015 and was a ten-year starter prior to that. Granted that Iggy is kinda done now, but he's still playing 26 mpg and giving the defense. And they're paying him almost $12 million a year.

might be a huge homer opinion but I think IF the Celts get by Cleveland, I think it could go 6 games with GS. I think they actually match up pretty well. I don't think theyd win but I think they could snag a game or two.

You said a few bench players. Shaun Livingston could start on Brooklyn and Orlando and that is about it.

The Sixers have enough for at least one max FA and an owner who says he's willing to go into the repeater tax over and over to win.

More just really really disappointed with Houston. Those Malone-Stockton Jazz and Kemp-Payton Sonics ran an offense. These Rockets don't. They fucking blinked and totally shelved their offense that got them the #1 seed in exchange for something very very ugly. Add to that I don't think their switch defense works at all against GS.

Now, give me 28 year old Payton and 27 year old Kemp and 31 year old Deutscheland extraordinaire Detleft Schrempf and I am happy to put my money on Sea ...

Says the dude who definitively said the Warriors ain't making the Finals this year because of their lack of a 5.

Lol

You focus way too much on shit that just doesn't matter.

Don’t confuse jaybone’s #hottakes with my #analysis.

What happens when pay the right 4 players a shit ton of money is you win championships. In the playoffs, you don't need a deep bench. Shaun Livingston wouldn't start for many teams, but his is big asset for the Warriors. His style also gives the remaining starters a little breather while he plays. He creates mismatches and is much more valuable for the Warriors than he would be to another team. But you don't consider such things in your post.

today,I'll take David West over anyone on the "great" Raptors bench. Next year, Proetl may pass him, but I'll take West in the playoffs.

High-end players can play 43-45 minutes in critical playoff games. You don't really need much of a bench. And the Dubs will continue having no problem getting a few average ring-chasing vets on the cheap (plus maybe one late 1st rounder working out), which is all they need.

No, actually you simply read too much in my post. This is what you bust a gasket for when others do it to you. Full disclosure, I'm not annoyed, but just want to point out that I was merely responding to a poster who said that multiple GS bench players would be starters on many other NBA teams. I AGREE with you. While I could see Livingtson starting on Brooklyn and Orlando and that is about it, I didn't say at all I find him to be a scrub. I think he's an extremely valuable bench player actually. And I'm impressed with what Looney is doing defensively. Kudos to GS staff. Before Looney, Bell was playing solid minutes (what happened to him? Hurt???). For whatever reason, Livingston does disappear for weeks at a time during the regular season, sort of like Dray Green's 3-point shot, but both are always at their best in the playoffs.

It's not just me. Others dispute your post...well before you tried to walk it back.

My comment on the window being shorter is due to money and contracts, not player age.

I feel like we have these same conversations every year.

Who is going to stop Lebron’s Heat?
