Capitalism. Its one of the driving forces that made this country the greatest the world has ever known, mostly because it gives everyone the opportunity to earn a buck. It's given stuff like the combustion engine, the car, the airplane, the PC and the smartphone, while also enriching millions of Americans of every color and creed. But yeah let's throw all that in the trash bc we feel sorry that the poors have a 30 mins longer to get to work.

Let's also remember that there is no mandate to live anywhere. They need janitors and fry cooks in Madison, WI too.

The cluelessness in this thread is mindnumbing. The poors cant afford New York City? They can live like kings just 3 hours out! Or they can always pack up and move halfway across the country to Milwaukee to flip burgers! Problem solved.

What nonsense. American automakers killed Detroit. Let me give you 4 cars that were developed concurrently, and you tell me which is still in production: The Hummer H2, The Ford Excursion, The Pontiac Aztec, and the Toyota Prius.

So would you like for every apartment or house in NYC to be the same size and cost? Lol at some of these responses. You want to live somewhere that has a high rent? Get a skill set that someone will pay you enough money to live wherever you want to perform it. It's America.

Only one of those cars was even made in the US.
 
I think the H3 killed Hummer more than the H2, at least the H2 was fun. The H3 was the worst vehicle of all time.

Are you brain dead? People already live in these places. This isnt a theoretical concept. The fucking housing shortage is now, not just a prediction for projected influx. Low income people who live in large cities are being pushed out, often illegally. Jared Kushner's real estate company was just fucking accused for exposing children in his low income apartment/slums to cancer causing chemicals in efforts to push tenants out.
