'17 Specials & '18 Midterms Thread

"So did your movement." Not hard.

It's actually hard to understand how a group of 7,000 failed (at what?), when people didn't even know who the fuck we were. If you want to say we failed, cool i guess. I don't care because it's not at all instructive.

Your movement lost to a mentally unfit reality TV celebrity.

The stupidest people are the ones whose arrogance leads not to listen to those who have done what they are trying to do. You don't have to agree or implement everything or even a plurality, but to act as you and MDMH have is the epitome of a losing strategy.

Theoretically, you have 47,000 members now. Let's be really, really positive and say in two years you'll have 470,000 members and three years later, you get up 4,700,000 members. That's still less than 1.5% of the US population.

If others act the way the two of you do, you will drive away many times that number.

If do nothing to work with others, they won't help you.

Your actions thus far have shown no real path to victory.

Oh shit we’re arguing with a representative of a group of 7000 I thought this was a real movement not a glorified PTA

We have gone from 7,000 to 50,000 members. We are the largest socialist organization in the US in the last 100 years. We fucking don't need your old ass stale opinions.

You are a fucking idiot. You can't even figure out that my progression had your group growing by 100 times it's current membership.

Your position that all Dems are responsible for the acts of even a few is moronic and will lead to failure, but you are good at that.

Many of us have tried to help, but you don't want help from the people who can help you unless we lick your balls. 1000% behind or fuck us. How very Trumpian of you.

The thing you don't understand (among most things in life) is that the extreme right and extreme left are not opposites. They meet. you are no different than the extreme right and their litmus tests.

These are all dumb takes.

Like I said, I can understand baseball statistics.

It can't be proven. A statistic can be proven. It doesn't matter if it's baseball, basketball or any other event.

You can never prove if WAR is correct. It's about faith not statistics.

By the way, I'm not alone:

https://www.cheatsheet.com/sports/mlb-5-weaknesses-of-the-war-statistic-explained.html/

"A batting average is a batting average in any site’s calculation, but there is no such standard for WAR. Fangraphs and Baseball Reference have different ways of arriving at the number. When you hear WAR, do you listen to the disclaimer about the site of origin for the number? If so, do you have a working grasp of the subtleties of each?

It’s a tall order for anyone, and the fact that these two respected and authoritative sites have not worked out a standardized version is a sign of the stat’s weakness. Take Zack Greinke, the Dodgers pitcher who seems to be having a sensational year for anyone who’s followed. On Baseball Reference, he sports a 6.5 WAR, third best in MLB. That place will sound right to many people.

On FanGraphs, Greinke has a 4.2 WAR, good for 16th in the game. We’d like much more consistency between the two. Otherwise, the goal of simplifying everything with one number doesn’t work.

If it is a REAL statistic, it would be the same everywhere.

5. Joe Panik vs. Felix Hernandez and Madison Bumgarner.

While a 2.9 WAR versus 3.3 WAR may be a wash (however misleading that wash may be), we cannot say the same thing for a difference of a full win over a replacement. After all, a win could be the difference between making the playoffs and going fishing. According to FanGraphs WAR, you would want Joe Panik (4.0 WAR) over Felix Hernandez (2.9 WAR) in 2015.

Maybe this is a condemnation of replacement-level pitchers this season, and Felix’s numbers are not what they have been in Cy Young-caliber seasons, but they are still impressive: 150 IP, 1.14 WHIP, .231 BA, 2 CG, 2 ShO. Because of his adjusted approach, his strikeouts are down but his ground ball-rate is up (fifth in MLB).

So has Joe Panik (.308 BA, .817 OPS, 7 HR, 56 R and 4.8 UZR) been worth more than a game matched against his replacement compared to the King? We’ll leave you to decide. After all, these numbers cannot be qualified. FanGraphs WAR says Panik is. But Felix shouldn’t take it personally. Madison Bumgarner (2.7 WAR) looks even less valuable compared to Panik."

Yep this makes sense.[/SIZE]

Even THE BIBLE (if you knew anything about baseball, you'd know TSN is called The Bible) says there are problems with WAR:

There are MANY other such articles.

None of them say it's not a statistic. "If it is a real statistic, it would be the same everywhere" is a great self own.

Anyways, as ITC points out, no one wants to hear your thoughts on the subject. I wasn't goalpost moving, because you haven't made a coherent argument.
