David Cutcliffe

I mean he was really a cocky son of a bitch last year and then we return the favor and kick their butt and he acts like a total douchebag. I guarantee you clawson told him good game and you kicked our butts after the game last year

Other than cutcliffe doing his typical shtick, does he and Clawson have beef? Or is this just typical cutcliffe?

It definitely seems that way. Clawson looks like he gets more joy out of beating Duke than any other team.

I’ve had some run-ins with Cut before and he’s gone out of his way to be a good dude fwiw.

Bad Wake Forest football attendence is still about 10k more people than bad Duke football attendence.

I think Cut was probably pretty ticked at his team for getting punched in the mouth and staying didn’t win for the count more than anything. I also think Clawson doesn’t go out of his way to be buddies with other coaches to the extent Grobe did. I mean I think his relationship with other coaches is good, but he’s focused on Wake and Wake alone.

I did laugh each time that the announcers made some comment about Duke's stadium being fabled or illustrious or some other term that definitely does not apply to it. It's a small crappy stadium. At least WF has a small nicer stadium.

Have you been to Duke's stadium recently? It's actually pretty nice. And right on campus.

Clawson usually doesn’t refer to duke by name. He referred to them as something “that team in Durham” in his opening presser when he got the job. We definitely ran it up on them, and I have no problem with it.

If Cut had not lucked into The Coastal and UNC historic ineptitude he would be long gone.

I don’t even think we ran it up on them. All we were doing was running the ball. They just couldn’t stop it and kept giving us great field position. Not like we were throwing deep late in the game.

We didn’t run it up on them, they couldn’t stop us and Clawson didn’t tell our guys to fall down.

I’m also okay with us running it up on them too but I don’t think Clawson was “trying” to run it up. I think the “just running the offense” excuse holds up here. I don’t recall throwing the ball much, if at all, in the fourth quarter with 10 minutes left. Dukes defense was just so bad it may appeared we were running it up.

Dabo, on the other hand, ran it up on S.C. last night and it was glaringly obvious.

The Coastal is trash. We might win 8 games playing in that division this year. How many times has cut played Clemson?

Cut and Duke have had an easier path to 6 win bowl eligibility than WF during the Cut era. Annually WF has been playing regular ACC champ Clemson the entire time Cut has been at Duke. Duke rarely played Clemson during that time, plus played FSU sparingly. I suspect WF has scheduled tougher OOC opponents for part of that time as well due to the lingering effects of the Grobe scheduling philosophy built around playing big time opponents to attract attention from potential recruits. We're now in the mode of one very tough OOC opponent which greatly favors building to 6 wins.
