Basketball Recruiting Megathread 1.0 has run its course

With all due respect to Chill, he is not even on the coaching staff and how many 18 year old knows what he did for us.

I am sure he knows the game, but recruiting has changed a whole lot since the late '80s.

Chill has "It". Always has. Always will.

Kids will love him. He's a natural.

This isn't anything about Tim. It's purely about Chill.

As I've said from early on, [Redacted] is a housecleaner and place saver. It's logical that there is a plan for Chill.

I thought he was a place saver for Rusty? That was the popular line of thought back in April 2010.

I am not a fan of either option. It's so risky, especially since Childress has no coaching background.

I've never been that much of a Rusty for HC fan...too bland.

Ignoring Prosser, the last Wake head coach who wasn't fired or forced out was Bones McKinney. The problem with hiring a legend is that in 3-4 years you might have to fire him. If you take someone who doesn't have a coaching background then it's even riskier, even if it is someone who seems like he would have a natural propensity for coaching.

That said, if Childress got a few years under his belt as an assistant, I'd feel a lot more comfortable with him as head coach and Fuller or similar (powerhouse recruiter) as associate head coach.

I hate where our basketball program is right now and think Coach Bz is not a good fit. If he were back in the Nba or HC at a mid- major that would be great. Personally, I don't dislike him or even blame him the most.

I hate where it is today. I think it will start turning around in 12/13.

No matter what happens, we'll be in better shape for a new coach than we were when [Redacted] took the job.

Don't start that nonsense. When [Redacted] took over we looked to be in great shape. We were always going to be young his first season, but we had all the pieces to return to the tournament in 2012 and to be a power in the ACC 2013 and 2014. The attrition and injury are what killed us.

In the Spring most people were predicting 12-14 wins.

OGB, maybe you should just ban yourself.

You don't know much about McKinney's leaving apparanty. Jack McCloskey and Carl Tacy were not forced out.

Well I am not a million years old so I can't really speak to McKinney (or McCloskey), but yeah sounds like a pretty much open and shut case that Tacy was essentially forced out (ie: a situation was created that left him no real option but to leave).

I know I did and I know many others did.

No you didn't. You were saying about 12 wins after Woods was kicked out.

I am not going to argue about this any more because I know you know the program wasn't really a rebuild project. The players were here/coming; the new coach just needed to let them mature and coach them up. In order for that to happen they had to stay on the team, but that didn't happen. This program was not in bad shape when [Redacted] took over, and for the most part it isn't his fault that it's in bad shape now.

Does note compute

Back to recruiting, Zach Auguste just picked ND. It looks like Tyler Cavanaugh is ours for the taking.

God damnit I don't give a flying fuck about this BZIN, BZOUT, BZ IS THE GOD DAMN DEVIL, CHILL IS GOD, YOU SAID 10 WINS, NO I DIDN'T YOU DID, WE WERE AMAZING UNTIL THE NUT PUNCH bickering on this thread. I just want to know where we stand with the 5 or 6 guys we're still going after for 2012. Take this stupid fucking bickering to a different thread.
