WHY is he still our basketball coach?

OK guys, I sent a sharply-worded e-mail to Hatch and Wellman so we should be good to go. Expect a press conference to be announced soon. I made sure to remind them of my 6-digit (lifetime) donation to the Deacon Club (counting digits after the decimal point).

But without even a droplet of a leak that DM is going to be retained for the time being, what is the point of sending fans into an uproar and steal what hope we have left? (Oh that's right, click bait!) I just don't remember much of any news of consequence being broken by any source, other than Dave Glenn recently, on these matters, at least not any that posts on this board.

I posted the news I had because that's my job. I felt solid in its accuracy and it came from a variety of sources - once mid-afternoon (which I largely discounted), then from two different folks late in the evening. I slept (very unsoundly and just for about four hours) before I decided to share, as I felt was my duty to do for the readers. It honestly was not something I took lightly.

And as I stated in my nuanced report, just because that's where the process was at midnight last night doesn't mean that's the end result. It's fluid, at least for the time being.

I'll continue to update as I get good information. Thanks!
 
Need the Atlanta Hawks to step up. Surely they could use a big man assistant coach !

The fact it is even a question and is fluid shows what a fucking disaster Wellman’s end tenure has been. You know the AD is reading the boards so when you see this please refer to the Fuck Wellman thread.

If I had Manning's Wake money already (not to mention my previous NBA money in the bank) and sucked as hard as he does at my job, I'd resign, leave the remaining $18M on the table, and go bird watching for the next decade. I'd already have a few million in the bank and don't need much more to go out and see all the birds.

Then again, you probably are a man of good character and would not feel good about spending unearned money.

Wake should hire people with that kind of value system.
 
Last week, NACUBO released the updated survey of university endowments as of 2018.

Wake checks in #83 nationally at a portfolio value of $1,329,255,000.

(That’s $1.3 billion)

I’ve spent many years working in higher ed, so I get the fact that an endowment balance isn’t the same thing as spendable cash. I also get that a Foundation isn’t the same thing as a University or an Athletic Association.

But at the end of the day, they are all related. Wake has the means to jettison Manning without giving it a second thought. If they don’t dump Manning, it’s because they choose not to do so, not because they don’t have the means to do so.
