Totally Unofficial 2019/2020 Premier League Thread (NWT)

Looks like I might be alone on the Sheffield United will stay up island. I'll take it, their manager has done remarkable things year in and year out and they've spent cash unlike Norwich (who the underlying stats say greatly overachieved last year)
I suspect you spend more time following the Championship. I haven't seen United play yet, so I've decided based on their squad on paper. I could be wrong, and I wouldn't be upset about it

Chupe, next time I'm in your hood, we should get drunk and stoned and watch an entire Liverpool match with the sound off. We'll count Henderson's touches and where he goes without the ball.

Firmino has been the best player on the pitch for me. And I'm usually pretty critical of his game

I have zero reason to big up Henderson's game. He and Firmino were above everyone else. Energy, pressing, getting into the box. I'm guessing he had at least double the amount of touches as Wijnaldum. He was excellent today.

But I will always get stoned and watch a match with no sound.

Someone with more time and energy than me should drag up last year's predictions!

I do have a reason to big down his game because I hate him. But I also spend a surprising amount of energy focusing on him when I watch Liverpool matches. (I tend to do the same for central midfielders in other squads too)

I've always agreed his energy and pressing are above average in the league, and that's a good thing for the way that Klopp wants Liverpool to play. But he's just so terrible on the ball, makes awful decisions, and is generally (in my opinion) much below the standard of his teammates.

Wait until y'all see Lo Celso. Now that is a central midfielder who can spray balls to the wings.

I've been pretty good on predicting Champ teams to stay up -- Hudds in 2017 the best example. Less so on the doomed teams, had Burnley dropping in '17-18 to Watford '18-19, and they had wildly successful years

Watched on a tv a mile away at a wedding party but it’s unnerving how shaky Liverpool’s back line looks. Saw it all through preseason and continued today. A side with Kane, PEA, Aguero, etc would have scored a lot more goals today than Norwich did. Also, I love Gini but I’m guessing Keita takes his spot within a month and never looks back.

A lot of scary achilles talk on twitter for Alisson. Apparently a torn achilles is the easiest medical diagnosis to make and Klopp talked about his calf in the post match presser so people are hanging their hat on that but yikes. I bet Mignolet was watching in Belgium and thinking “fuck me”.

Speaking of the Championship, any guesses there?

I say Leeds and Derby finish 1-2 and are promoted.

3. Swansea
4. West Brom
5. QPR
6. Middlesbrough

Swansea d. Boro
West Brom d QPR

West Brom d Swansea for the last promotion spot

I'd prolly go Leeds and WBA auto right now. Always thought Bilic was pretty solid and WBA have made some good moves, and Leeds can just pick up where they left off, and already have done so in their first game.

My bois just threw around a ton of cash (may mean less time for Nova tho Miazga will be an ever present again) so hopefully we can start pushing upwards. Been either near relegation or near promo for us for a while now, hopefully the latter in store

lol, not sure how they overturned that goal by City. How accurate are those computer-generated lines? SOMEONE SHOW ME AN ALGORITHM

City dominating. Too much sauce. They decide to bring some of the bench guys on to give them some run. First up? Kuhn Aguero. Embarrassment of riches.

I remember the days where United would sub on world class players. Those were fun.

West Ham were awesome in the first half. Haller looks the business and some really good build up play. Will look forward to seeing this group against non-City competition the next few weeks.

Second half embarrassing. City just too much. Not surprising, and despite the awful scoreline I'm not particularly worried about the future.
