Daniel Mack is slated to return from a mild shoulder sprain. He will be ready to play against BC.

---most of my excitement about the potential of this D is the "swarming potential" of the young guys through the middle of our Defense. We are not going to dominate anybody with our size though getting the 300 pounders Booi and Souza back to 100% health will help...but the strength of this D is the speed, range and tackling abilities through the mid-section -- led by a "Captain" type in Mack and including the soon-to-be-known hammer Duran Lowe, the freaky athletic 3-some of Justin Jackson, Mike Olson and Zachary Allen. Adding to the mix is FS Desmond Cooper (former University of Miami #1 S target) and next season the Deacs bring Hunt and Wiggins on line.

* You get the feeling that these young guys are on the cusp of blowing up plays and creating some much needed turnovers.

Terrence Davis is playing great football. He and Danny have been blocking well and his route running has been a thing of beauty. He'll have to have a friendly conversation with Tanner because it seems Terrence is the only target receiving errant throws... ;) -- A matter of time before TD makes something eye-opening happen on the field.

Why can't we get any pressure on the QB with our speed?

I'm looking forward to seeing Allen at full speed.

Well, if he can stay out of the back of a pickup truck...thank God he was not permanently or badly injured...he is one tough cookie, though. Nobody expected him to participate against State but he did.

He's feeling better every day...

For various reasons each of these kids has been slowed a little at the start of this season.

Scott Betros is a big bodied LB and a gritty tackler...he is fighting tooth and nail to keep Olson out of the game. Scott produced about 30 tackles last year in his first healthy season (Shoulder). Olson produced 40 plus with more disruptive stats in about 40% of the time. Scott worked exceptionally hard this offseason and it shows (remember, Betros was a Florida Top 50 player) and Mike is now prying some of that time loose.

Justin has been 'eased' into 2011. Time for the gloves to come off as he sees his league peer this weekend in Kevin Pierre-Louis.

Ziggy -- late night mishap...avoided disaster. Getting back up to snuff now...the 2 week break has been a blessing.

Daniel -- shoulder sprain -- back to speed against BC.

Duran has been playing and has also been the top special teams guy I've seen on kickoffs. He is so athletic, I mean he consistently forced T.J. Graham into tacklers and twice took him out with the tackle (before the 25 yard line with our kickoffs against a near world class sprinter!) Duran also did a beautiful job breaking Tobias Palmer down in space and wrapping him up.

Time to get these guys healthy and up and running together...

So far this season Chris Givens has 366 receiving yards after 3 games.

Chris has 100 career receptions for 1509 yards ranking 23rd in receptions and 16th in receiving All-Time at WF . He can potentially rewrite much of the Deacon receiving records --- also has 15 career TD's.

For their part, Dembry has 16 catches for 230 yards and Campanaro has 12 receptions for 172 yds.

Back to Givens... he is averaging 18.3 yards per catch and is on the Bilettnikoff list for nations best receiver.

*Kudos to the staff for recognizing this talent and sticking with him through some issues with his knees. For me, Chris is WF's version of Jeremy Maclin and interestingly, had he not banged up his knees in H.S., he might well have been a Tiger, or an Aggie or Longhorn. Instead WF battled Kyle Whittingham and Utah for his services.

--- The Deacs are sporting their largest line in school history at a per man average of 314.
Future lines look to be even bigger.

Mack not listed on the two-deep this week.

Faulk bumped from the holder spot.

Jackson to continue returning, even with Camp back at WR.

Ziggy back on the depth chart.

Makes sense to have the punter holding. Can't remember changing holders during the season though. Does this mean Faulk has been given other duties in practice and isn't able to practice with the specialists as much?
