Story of the year in the ACC.....the best 2 teams in the conference were in the same division. AND we derailed the UNC championship run when we cheated and beat them (although we never actually won because the game isn't over yet as there is still 1 second on the clock.)
 
So is the added optimism for our season just in the fact that the rest of the ACC has looked so bad? Because in this thread in preseason, pretty much everyone expected us to win the 4 games we have already won, yet most people weren't projecting 9-11 wins. Have we really looked that much better in the wins than you all expected, or in your mind is the ACC just worse so we will win more games by default?

Combination of both for me. I did expect to be 4-0, but I'm not sure I expected to look as good as we have offensively up to this point. The league doesn't appear to be all that good either...Clemson is 3 TDs better than anyone in the league.
 
The pessimist in me says BC feels like a classic letdown game after all the national recognition. Add in losses to Clemson and two of VT/FSU/Cuse and we're looking at 8-4 (5-3).

Or we could lose to Clemson and finish 11-1 (7-1).
 
Schedule sets up nicely with open dates before Loserville and State games.

@ BC - play ugly at times but pull out win 27-17
Louisville - two weeks off, at home, good guys roll 34-13
F$U - wheels are falling off the Taggart train, we win 31-10
NCSU - two weeks off, home and we pull it out 27-24
@ VPI - don't feel great about this one on the road but I'll go with us to win 24-17
@ Clempson - our slow developing RPO scheme doesn't match up well to their speed and we drop this one 38-17
Doook - I hate the Dookies and we win 45-21
@ Syracuse - classic time for a letdown on the road in a dead Carrier Dome over Thanksgiving Break - lose 20-31

Finish 10-2 and head to the Citrus Bowl on Jan. 1
 
After watching UVA against ODU, I'd be very surprised if 10-2 doesn't get us to the Orange bowl.

7-5, which is what I said pre-season. 8-4 probably more likely at this point, but I'll stick with the original prediction.

I think the talent is there for 10-2, but I'd rather keep my expectations more muted so that I can enjoy any upside.
 
If WF stays healthy, Deacs finish 9-3.



As things stand today, this would be the line on WF remaining games (using Sagarin's predictor):

WF -6.5 BC
WF -12 L'ville
WF -6 FSU
WF -9 NC State
WF -3.5 VT
CL -24 WF
WF -6.5 Duke
Cuse -1.5 WF

Seems like 9-3 is the most probable record with 10-2 slightly more likely than 8-4. Heady stuff for WF football.
 
8-4, 4-4 ACC. First loss comes Friday at BC. Sorry, been a WF fan for close to forty years.
 
I predicted 9+ wins based on Newman having the IT Factor. Still thinking 9+ wins hoping to run the table. 12-0 would be unreal. Will be happy with anything over 8 wins regular season.
 
With this start and a down ACC, I will be extremely disappointed if we don't finish with a winning conference record. I think 10-2 and a trip to Miami isn't unreasonable at this point, but will be pleased with 9-3 as well.

Damn, that's shitty. We're gonna lose the day before kickoff? That is some shit that could only happen to Wake.

VT - W (they're god awful and I think they'll have quit at this point in the year)
