I don't know if it's a result of age or what, but I don't feel movies like I used to. I haven't had a visceral reaction to a movie since Tree of Life. I remember being moved to the point of physical register when I watched the top four movies on that list, but that shit doesn't happen anymore. I miss it.
 
La La Land makes me actually angry at how stupid and acclaimed it was

What are the best movies about Hollywood or the business?

Sunset Boulevard, obviously. The Player. Mulholland Drive maybe the best? Barton Fink also kicks ass.

The Artist and La La Land are extremely self-important.
 
I remember thinking Bowfinger was HILARIOUS when I was a kid. Doubt it holds up.
 
I liked that Gosling movie where he spent the whole time brooding and giving smoldering looks.

Best Hollywood movies should include "Who Framed Roger Rabbit".

I hated Hail Caesar. It felt like an inside joke that I wasn't in on.
 
Does Argo count as a movie about Hollywood? It's pretty damn good, other than the whole "white-washing a Latinx character by casting Ben Affleck" thing.
 
There are way too many cases of Hollywood "white-washing" characters. Tony Mendez was much more European Spanish than he was Central/South American Hispanic. As a young man, Mendez looked white, which helped him in his postings not to stand out.
 
Man, I threatened to watch two movies last night but just fell asleep instead. Should have known that was going to happen.
