Manning Buyout Negotiations Have Begun

What are the players supposed to say? We suck? Our coaches suck? Lack of effort is a common post game excuse for poor play.
 
Welp, at least they don't talk about lack of paint touches and ft's, there's that. :thumbsup:

These kids are just being good team players. They are not dumb; but neither are they going to get caught making negative comments about their coach. And Brandon was correct, they lost due to a lack of effort. Now the question is: why was there a lack of effort in the last game of the season playing an arch-rival? That tells us something about the coaching situation that goes beyond their verbal answers.

The fact that it is being talked about openly tells us that something is about to happen, notwithstanding the denials.

Well, we kinda know that. Maybe you could say "the other team out played us, congratulations to them".
 
It's not just the "lack of effort" excuse. It's that contact protecting the coach followed by Manning refusing to accept blame.

I don’t field any calls from the AD. For those that do field those calls requesting donations, any interest in asking for some clarity on our financial commitment to Manning before committing to offering more money? Seems reasonable to want to know how somebody will spend your money if they are asking for it. Seems fair for them to provide specifics if they are asking for your money.
 
If anything we are certainly at another level of the DM situation. He's had to answer questions by the press and clearly had to address the team.

Did Dan every ask Buzz what he thought about the billboard?

Completely wrong question and too nice by Les. The real question should be in your 6th year as coach does a last place finish with horrible D and effort match the expectations for a WF b-ball program rich with great players and postseason expectations. Time to exit left Danny boy.
 
I think take a step was a reference to DMs laughably low bar he set for himself at the beginning of the season.
 
Maybe DM should reference UVA to see what steps look like? They were terrible at the beginning of the season and many thought they might miss the NCAAT. Now they have a double buy in the ACCT.

I guess someone should tell DM they need to 'take steps' during the actual season, not just year to year.

This is why people don't have sources. If you show them in public, they won't trust you again. It's the most basic concept there is. If you guys understood what real sources are, you'd know this. It's also why I might only use that term a couple of times a year.

If that was pointed at me, I never said it was me "and only me" who knows this. All I have said the info has been shown to me.

I’m sorry I wasted my time.

I’ll mention something I heard yesterday that I don’t fully believe, but that kind of jives with what I think RJ has been trying to articulate.

The gist of it is that the contract numbers were a smokescreen to buy Danny another year (or more) because he does things the right way and is supported by those that have the power to keep him around.

That the real number isn’t so onerous.

Like I said, I don’t know if I buy that. It flies in the face of logic and sounds more like a conspiracy theory. But then I think about Hatch and how the consensus is that he really likes Manning.
