New coaching search thread

Wake has academic policies that limit to almost zero JuCo athletes at Wake.

1. Individual had to be fully qualified coming out of high school.

2. Wake accepts very few JuCo credits as meeting Wake standards. Therefore, JuCo transfers do not meet NCAA requirements for number of acceptable credit hours completed to be juniors. Hence they are "academically ineligible." This was discussed in great detail on the baseball team threads. It is a huge issue for Wake baseball because of professional baseball draft eligibility rules.

Snobs.

Yet Danny Manning had the pen and paper ready to sign Harry Giles, a kid who “graduated” high school from a now defunct online diploma mill.

GTFOH with that elitist bullshit.

I think both national and local guys have their pros and cons. National guys are more likely to get propaganda from coach agents to boost their guys' name (as you point out). Local guys are more likely to get propaganda from boosters/people associated with Wake who want to control the flow of information for positive public press

The thought of having to listen to a former Blue Goat player and Ole Roy surrogate at every press conference would be unbearable. Please Currrie do not hire little Wes.

Screw this. Get a guy who can win at Wake.

I hate UNC as much as anybody but don't give a damn if a guy went there if he can get us to where we need to be.

I think we have established the Kelsey is not driving from Rock Hill to Greer to fly to Winston-Salem.

I'll only say this:

Coach K publicly supported Wake hiring [Redacted].

Later, he praised the hiring of [Paint Touches].

Now, it's said he called Wake and recommended Amaker.

STOP TAKING ADVISE FROM COACH K. HE'S FUCKING TROLLING.

This would be like Putin trying to sell the US an online voting system.

Remind me again how many Top 25 teams HOF Wes has beaten in the past eight years?

How about how many times he beat 20-Loss Manning?

So?

How about the time when Redacted was at Air Force and crushed us by like 30. Wellman was star struck and just couldn't let someone else snatch up that hot commodity.

Goodman has a good relationship with Forbes and his agent (who is also Wes’ agent). If Les and Goodman are both reporting that Forbes and Wes are leading candidates, there has to be some truth to that. No way Wake and the agents are spewing out complete bullshit to Les and Goodman, if so, that’s fucked up.

Currie is going take that plane, have a car waiting and is meeting the #1 candidate behind a Stuckey's in South Carolina.

SoCo has been a much improved conference over the last few years. Comparing the Southern and Big South isn't even close to apples to apples. Winthrop has been a pretty dominant team in a terrible conference and Kelsey still only has two* (this year would've been two) tourney appearances to show for it.

In fact, the average Southern Conference team in KP is about as far away from the average Big South team as the average SoCo team is to the average SEC team from last year.

Agree. People seem to be missing this on Kelsey. I understand the fire and emotion part of this, but Winthrop's competition is horrendous. Far below the competition faced by Forbes at ETSU or Miller at UNCG (or even Richey at Furman).

Winthrop's strength of schedule was #336 this year out of 353 teams. Yes, Winthrop went 24-10 which on the surface seems like a nice record, but Kelsey's team went 23-3 against teams rated 200 or worse, and they 1-9 against teams rated 200 or below. Not saying Kelsey is a bad coach, just that "winning" in the Big South recently proves almost nothing.
