I seem to recall that 2 Live Crew got a little pushback.
I'm not here to comment on the sexualization of children, but I do want to point out that rap videos made by men since the 90s have been overloaded with sexuality and soft-(or not so soft-)core porn, male gratification, sexual violence, and so on, but once two women rappers do it in the name of empowerment it becomes a Big Fucking Deal and we're Worried About Our Daughters

Y'all completely worried about the wrong shit, bros. I have two daughters and I'm just praying that one or both are gay, because I assume then you decide who pays for the wedding with a coin flip or something, and I've got a 50/50 shot at avoiding bankruptcy.
i've never heard the concept of "sexualize children" to mean "expose them to the concepts of sex"
False comparison, friendo. Also, misinformed, because WAP was produced by Ayo the Producer (male), and directed by Collin Tilley (male).
I have no problems with the 90s rap videos on the front that they didn't directly inspire children to make softcore porn videos. That's likely only because the technology available at the time didn't provide ready access. If children were making softcore porn videos in response to "rap videos made by men," then I'd be equally against that.
I've watched and listened to the WAP video. It's reasonable. But there's got to be a different standard when it comes to the potential to sexualize children.
I'm not smart enough to figure out what the solution is, be it restricting the use of things like Tik Tok; or some other awesome idea that I don't know about.
I'm also looking for the video to that RHP song from the nineties. (Rock Hard Penis)
what's the correlation of people Concerned about WAP and those who are all in on the Q Save the Children stuff rn?
your issue seems to be with TikTok and other platforms, not with WAP itself
real answer
My issue is with every song and video in the history of pop culture that discusses degrading women. WAP is just mega popular right now, so I brought it up. I don't give a damn if the content is written or produced by men or women. It all plays a role in promoting sexual abuse and desensitizing women to sexual misconduct by men. If you disagree with that then you have a totally different perspective on it all than I do, and that's fine.
I remember a young college freshman Mako watching this and coming to grips truly for for the first time in his life that sexuality is indeed a fluid concept.
D'Angelo was the OG for the concept, I think:

what is it about WAP that is degrading? or promoting sexual misconduct by men?
posts about degrading women ring hollow on a board with a "hottest women in politics" thread with nary a protest post
