Where’d you play, knight?

Dog track in Thomasville. Winding Creek.

i play golf a couple or a few times a year

whenever i visit my mom, on or around my birthday, and maybe for work or if a particular friend is in town

i enjoy it quite a bit, but don't really make it a priority

This was me before four kids. Now, it's four hours out of my day where I get to (A) not hear kids scream, (B) drink/eat like shit with no immediate consequences or justification, (C) hang with my dude-bros, (D) be physically active. It's all upside.

nice thing about CHICAGO is that in addition to the beaches, you have very accessible, affordable public courses, including some that are near water and it's pretty much like Pebble Beach

If you're in Pittsburgh, just stay there. However, Clevelend is superior to anyplace else within 2.5 hours.

"Greensboro is superior to anyplace else within 30 minutes"

"Raleigh is superior to anyplace else within an hour"

"Charleston, WV is superior to anyplace else within five minutes"

I rarely golf without the wife and kids. Wife enjoys playing and the kids like to ride the cart and run around. Family time plus no guilt.

W-S > greensboro

This is such an interesting idea.

It's wild how different the two cities are. Pre-COVID, both downtowns had interesting things. Boxcar in Greensboro is niche, but truly fucking epic for those it appeals to and superior in literally every way to Reboot in Winston. In Winston, places like Small Batch, Fair Witness, Finnigans, made a strong case for downtown Winston bars.

When it comes to chicken wings, Greensboro sucks a giant ass; especially to Winston staples like Waldos.

Places like Fourth Street Filling Station, Murphy's Lunch, and Spring House stack up pretty well against Greensboro's Europa, First Carolina Deli, and 1618.

Bruke Street is totally raped by GSO's Cornerslice.

Winston has always felt older/grittier than Greensboro, but both have a pretty cool history.

I would put Sampan in Winston against any chinese restaurant in GSO and Sampan comes out on top every time.

But Greensboro's Asahi crushes any possible Japanese in Winston - it's not close.

Both have good Pho spots, Winston on Stratford, Greensboro on Spring Garden.

Both have tons of American-Mexican dives, including some seriously fucking amazing Guadalajaran joints where gringos just don't go. Sabor Latino on Gate City Blvd comes to mind.

I never heard anybody say I’m going to Cleveland on vacation. What’s so good about Cleveland?

of course all the pics they post are them like by the lake, or at breweries outside or hiking, they have yet to experience a Cleveland winter.

Cleveland is great for 3-4 months a year, and then miserable to awful for the rest of the year.

Used to drive to Seoul Garden in GSO when at Wake. Pretty solid Korean food.

With Paul's gone, neither city has Italian food worth a shit. The first person to mention Elizabeth's pizza needs to check themselves before they wreck themselves. Quanto Basta in Winston is reasonable, and Positano in Greensboro is the same; but neither stand out.

I seem like I could move back to the country and live in places like North Carolina, but the main thing keeping me in the cities are the food options.

On one hand it sucks you can’t experience it all now, on the other hand the delivery options are crazy

Does Winston have anything that stacks up to Nazareth Bread Company? I know the greek community in Winston is super fucking strong, Athena is good - but it doesn't have that deep mediterranean feel like NBC.

Korean in GSO is good. Seoul Garden is good and the place that got killed by COVID that was in the Super G strip mall was fucking authentic as balls.

my wake girlfriend was korean, we tried all the spots

seoul garden has teh best banchan

QB and Di'Lisio in Winston are the only good italian spots we've had. Granted, we have Vincenzos deliver to us a couple times a month but that doesn't really count.

Fratellis is OK... But definitely not as good italian food as Di'LisiIo or QB.
