This happened to me too. I’m guessing because I didn’t have a refund this year, but I did in 2019 so IRS had direct deposited my refund and then stimulus payments in my account. Had to pay for 2020 so I got a check instead.

I owed tax in 2019 as well (grad student stipend doesn't have withholding for God knows what reason) so that isn't it for me, but it's probably something like that. It's just so incredible to me that they took money out of the bank account like a few days before this round of stimulus and yet somehow claim that they don't have the bank account information.

Does an electric fireplace even put out real heat or is it basically an orange flashlight?

We have a wood burning fireplace that we regularly use in the winter. That was basically a requirement for when we moved to our current place, there’s no comparison to the heat it throws out, ambience etc.

Add that to the fact that I have a loudly ticking ~200 year old shelf clock next to it with a paltry 47” tv (at least it’s wall mounted but not above the fireplace) and based on the last several pages I am a total micro old fossil.
