Totally Unofficial 2021/22 Premier League Thread (NWT)

I thought I was too invested in sports until I read some of these ESL reactions.

Totally Unofficial 2020/21 Premier League Thread (NWT)

Florentino Perez out here advocating for Reaganomics and claiming Real Madrid is too big to sell players. That what this is all about.

Well I guess it will save me some $$$ and a lot of time if the PL let’s the Scab 6 stay. Because I’m out.

The Evertons of football will die a slow death if they keeping swimming with these pariahs. So maybe it’s better to just rip the band aid off now and tune it all out.

The game is gone. It’s just a ripoff NBA full of douchebags and zero meaningful experiences. I hope they all experience pain and sorrow for destroying one or the few decent sporting structures left on earth.

If UEFA policed FFP, this would never have happened.

probs. mostly poking fun at DeacMan's anxieties about critiques of capitalism.

srs q: (because I'm not as familiar with FFP) why didn't UEFA enforce FFP more.

So are we all picking up new sides? starting fresh with EPL squads once the 'big' six get expelled? DV7 which one's yours so I can pick their rival.

i'm still sorta a fan of a super league depending on how it's fully structured because basically only big teams compete today anyway. But soccer was over as it became more global and the TV value increased the last 10-15 years, coupled with FFP. European soccer, for the positives of promotion/relegation, and the meritocracy of having to win to get into higher competitions really needs American style hard salary caps. FFP is stupid because it basically locks in big teams into always winning and never allows for teams to grow because for the most part revenue is going to be capped for a while.

Either let the mega teams with the most money all play each other, or create a hard cap salary cap and transfer market system so everyone is on a level playing field.\

The more I think about it, the more it might make sense for everyone if the Scab6 stay. But they have to be penalized this year and every year to even the playing field.

50 point deduction this season

30 point penalty every season moving forward that they are registered in unapproved leagues

Will be fun to watch Arsenal and Spurs quickly fall down to League 1

🎶Created by the poor but stolen by the rich. Fuck the euro super league and fuck the greedy six🎶

People excited about the SuperLeague are going to be mighty disappointed when it turns out that the matches will be exclusively broadcast on BeIn++, which will cost $39.99 a month and will only will be available to stream on Microsoft Zunes.

Everton is saddened and disappointed to see proposals of a breakaway league pushed forward by six clubs.

Six clubs acting entirely in their own interests.

Six clubs tarnishing the reputation of our league and the game.

Six clubs choosing to disrespect every other club with whom they sit around the Premier League table.

Six clubs taking for granted and even betraying the majority of football supporters across our country and beyond.

At this time of national and international crisis - and a defining period for our game - clubs should be working together collaboratively with the ideals of our game and its supporters uppermost.

Instead, these clubs have been secretly conspiring to break away from a football pyramid that has served them so well.

And in that Pyramid Everton salutes EVERY club, be it Leicester City, Accrington Stanley, Gillingham, Lincoln City, Morecambe, Southend United, Notts County and the rest who have, with their very being, enriched the lives of their supporters throughout the game's history. And vice versa.

The self-proclaimed Super Six appear intent on disenfranchising supporters across the game - including their own - by putting the very structure that underpins the game we love under threat.

The backlash is understandable and deserved – and has to be listened to.

This preposterous arrogance is not wanted anywhere in football outside of the clubs that have drafted this plan.

On behalf of everyone associated with Everton, we respectfully ask that the proposals are immediately withdrawn and that the private meetings and subversive practises that have brought our beautiful game to possibly its lowest ever position in terms of trust end now.

Finally we would ask the owners, chairmen, and Board members of the six clubs to remember the privileged position they hold – not only as custodians of their clubs but also custodians of the game. The responsibility they carry should be taken seriously.

We urge them all to consider what they wish their legacy to be.

Powerful. Fuck United, Liverpool, Spurs, Arsenal, City, Chelsea, and every club that's part of this disgraceful power grab that comes at the expense of the supporters who made this game what it is.

Isn't this just another example of someone arguing "Too Big to Fail? Nobody forced these clubs to take on excessive debt and overpay for mediocre players. Let them go under.
