Official 2020-21 NBA Finals - Milwaukee Bucks win the NBA Championship!

A 35 year old Reggie Miller and 37 year old Chris Mullens might be the best comparison to CP3 this year.

Guys with one shot at the end of their careers.

I think the main difference to the earlier era's is that guys had to play with the hand they were dealt, they couldn't manipulate the system to go from NO to LA to Hou to OKC to Phx

Granted the NBA pretty much stopped a NO to LAL move.

It’s not recent but 90s great players had an excuse that they faced Jordan. Then Jordan retired and that Duncan kid won a championship. Kobe and Shaq were still doing their thing. There wasn’t much of a window for guys who weren’t among the all time greats to get a ring. That’s why you have to give Billups, Rip, and Ben Wallace a ton of credit for breaking through in 2004.

But now Lebron has left a lot of holes for guys to slip through. I don’t know who from this era will be regarded on par with Duncan, Kobe, and Shaq. Don’t know. Dirk, KG, Rondo, Steph, Klay, Draymond, KD, Kawhi, Lowry, Marc Gasol got their championship. Now CP or Giannis and Middleton will get theirs.

watching the game I felt that Paul was having an off night and then I checked the boxscore and damn if he didn't score 21 on 9-15 shooting , perfect 3-3 on 3's, and had 10 assists to 1 turnover.

The Bucks don’t lose to many teams the way they played tonight. Hell the Suns don’t lose to many teams with how they played except tonight’s Bucks. I wonder how many Finals teams have gone 55/68/91 with a 40 point scorer and lost.

gotta be honest with myself: I’m pulling for the Bucks

Giannis was the mvp and went and got better

game 4 will haunt cp if bucks win, his 4th qtr saved him game 5 but it’s 7 bad qtrs out of the last 8

- All those ISO's in critical game 4 padded Booker's stats but everyone went cold and too easy to guard late.
- CP3 has at least a hand injury and is still really good. He looked like he was limping a little too.
- Suns miss Dario Saric.
- Not sure what the Suns can do in Game 6 - maybe watch Barkley back in the day leading his team to a win in Chicago to stave off elimination?
- Go small with Cameron Johnson needs more shots at the 4?
- Go big but then who goes to coming off the bench? Seems like a no go.
- Play Cam Payne even more and hope he gets hot?

I think Bucks have it now, especially since Phoenix went up 2-0 and this series was OVER BAYBEE. Momentum completely with Bucks.

Cam Johnson was like -17 yesterday (in during the huge bucks run)

pretty sure this has only became a thing fairly recently (and really mostly in basketball). ironically it seems like OWGs who have pushed the argument. my hypothesis is that its a byproduct of jordan arguments.

Jordan arguments is an interesting theory

i think the championships and legacy argument happens more in basketball because of all the major team sports, it is the easiest for one player to truly carry a team. It’s my harder in football and baseball. Hockey probably is more similar

Every generation had their debate between the greatest NBA players. Then Jordan just shut it down for good. There’s no other standard for greatness and it’s not just about going 6-0 in the Finals. He took a moribund franchise through every stage of success and then kept it at the top. Then it fell apart after he left.

We’re seeing the same thing happening in the NFL. Brady will be the standard for QBs. Mahomes will stay in his shadow.

I do wonder how this potential loss affects CP3’s legacy. It was already a little shaky with his lack of postseason success. Then this year Phoenix gets every conceivable break (AD getting hurt, playing a short handed Nuggets, Kawhi getting hurt) and he still can’t get it done. It’s a shame because he’s an all-time great regular season player.
