Wake at Clemson - Saturday 11/20 Game Time Speculation

If the training staff says that a player and the player himself says he can play, then he plays. If not, he sits. If a team has two shots to win the Division, you take both shots to increase the probability. FWIW, winning at BC in a game they will need to get to a bowl is far from a lock. BC's offense played like crap and they still beat VT easily on Friday. BC is far from a gimme game even if WF is relatively healthy.

I agree with you that BC is not a gimme game but VT is not good at all. I wish Wake played them this year as they are seeing that Burmeister is not the answer, while Hooker shines at UT.

BC is 5-4 and next games they play are @GT and at home vs. FSU- 2 bad teams. Fairly good chance they win one or both of those and are bowl eligible before Deacs game. I personally want them to win one- not two- don’t want to be the game they need to win to go bowling but also don’t want to play them on a 3 game win streak on road in November- more likely it will be a later kick.

Side note - if anyone needs a PARKING PASS for this game I bought a decent one earlier this season but I'm not going to make the trip after all. Lot 16 for $30 if anyone wants it. It can be emailed.

EDIT - Someone snagged it. Go Deacs!

And as posted on another thread, we could make the playoff at 12-1. It's not likely but if there's enough chaos and carnage it's a possibility.

We haven't really seen a CFP year yet where big upsets happpen in conf champ games. What if Wisconsin wins the Big Ten? Utah wins the Pac-12 (which at best would be a slight upset)? What if Auburn beats Alabama then Georgia spanks one of Ole Miss/Auburn/Texas A&M in the SECCG?

Hopefully the staff would treat it more as an everything to gain and nothing to lose scenario than vice versa

Danny Kannel was just talking this regarding WF.

What is Clemson like as a visiting fan, worth the trip or brutal?

It’s an amazing stadium and environment. I have been to 3 Deacs games there (none of which we won FYI) and people were very nice. Good folks all in all. Just avoid the dudes with the orange overalls.

It’s big and loud. Upper deck feels miles away so avoid it. People are friendly but can be very loud after start. Very Difficult to hear on field or near it. Refs tend to favor sentiments of that crowd too especially if close game for WF.

The Draft Kings look ahead line on WF at Clemson is Clemson -4. That amounts to a WF perceived chance to win of 39%.

Would guess that is the lowest WF at Clemson line maybe ever.

Wow- it’s definitely the lowest in last 25 years- I know we won there late in Caldwell days- maybe like 1998? It was Tommy West’s last year- still doubt we were favored. If we win this weekend - it might drop even more - just don’t want us favored.

They had 750 yards of offense and Homer Jordan threw a 75 yard TD to start the second half. I think their student manager scored their last two touchdowns that day.

just be prepared to hear that dumb CLEMSON chant a lot. Although I bet it's half empty for a noon game vs WF when Clemson has a few losses.

The speakers in the scoreboard are loud as hell, way louder than any rock concert I've been to. Also, the upper deck is steep as shit. I would assume during a night game at least 3 people who have been drinking all day would fall to their deaths.

Watched the Danny Ford show the next day, and on that 1981 team, WF had an excellent TE named Phil Denfield (he also kicked for WF) who had a solid game despite the blow out. During the broadcast when they showed the one highlight of Denfield's, Ford said (of course, using a double negative and in his barely understandable way of speaking): "That WF TE Denfield, he's good; that boy kicks too. Not sure why we didn't recruit him" as if it was impossible for Ford to comprehend that WF could have a single player that would've contributed to their squad. That comment has always stuck with me about the prevailing perception of WF's football. We are the team full players that no one else wanted. F Clemson.

Pilch, Coach Fair told my Dad that day, we'd be lucky to keep them under 100. He knew what was coming....

Clemson may be favored but Wake is more likely to win an 82-24 or 55-7 game. Times have changed.

I grew up in a Clemson family. When I informed my mom that I was coming to Wake, her response was “I remember when the Deacon was really nice and helped the Tiger do push-ups because he couldn’t do anymore!”
