2021 Football Coaching Carousel

Curious. How much time have you spent with Kelly watching him interact with his players, friends and family? People calling other people miserable human beings is so lame.

SDD. Read this and make your own conclusions:

Happy to read the stories about Hemphill sending student managers to their death and then covering it up.

University of Washington hires Fresno State coach Kalen DeBoer. Fresno went 9-3 this year, beating UCLA and almost beating Oregon.

I wouldn't rule out LSU shelling out insane money for Dabo.

Dabo isn't leaving for any job but Bama, which I think he takes after the guy who follows Saben is fired. Sort of the Roy Williams route. I do think it's probably 50/50 that Venables gets the Oklahoma job, and probably a 25% chance Elliot takes some job this year too. He probably messed up not leaving last year as his shine has worn off a bit since Clemson's offense sucked so much this year, but I think Elliot accepts a job too. Big transition year for Clemson.

So much for him being an idiot for moving to LA where he will “pay ten times the price for half the square footage” or whatever similar rationale was being dished out here recently.

But how is Riley going to pay California gas prices to fill up that plane?

In possible 2022 Carousel news, Deion Sanders won SWAC COY at Jackson State. His starting QB son was Freshman of the Year.

At least Riley and his family have 24/7 access to a jet to escape their West coast hell and fly back back to Norman as they please. 5D chess move right here.

Not only is USC poaching their coach but they would own some of the most expensive real estate in town. That’s ice cold.

That USC deal is so wild :bowrofl: college football is the best.

If the Venables to OU deal isn't real, I am begging Mike Leach to come back even if he's a quasi stop gap. The options could start getting real sketchy.

Instead of “owning the libs,” the libs own them.

Now there’s going to be Californians renting out USC’s Norman property when they want to get away. USC can host OU’s QB who isn’t getting enough playing time. This is hilarious.

Disrupting the coaching and real estate markets. USC should just demo it and throw up a Trojan statue to work a good troll job.

Rich Rod taking the Jacksonville State job

I never get moves like this. Same thing with Clay Helton coaching Georgia State or Butch Davis at FIU. Good for them if they really enjoy coaching that much but it seems miserable.

Well, it's a step up from what he was doing. He was OC at Louisiana Monroe under Terry Bowden lol.

I’m not seeing the Venables news confirmed anywhere.

Because it's not. Speculation fueled by some pic of his kids and DJ giving the whorns down sign in a pic.

He will get interviewed for sure, and I suspect he is in top 3 consideration for the job before any interviews are conducted, but I don't think discussions and interviews will really get serious until after this weekend. Just a hunch. It might be just fluff, but Castiglione (the OU AD) was saying that people have already reached out in addition to those they are wanting to interview. Now that could just be Kiffin and Kingsbury trying to bump up their salaries (Kingsbury would never be seriously considered at OU, and I'd be surprised if Kiffin was, but I'm sure we'd take his OC Lebby, an OU grad who does all his legwork), but that's what was said.

I didn't want Venables when Bob left. It seemed like it was more of the same, just Bob Part 2, plus I don't think he would've taken it with Mike Stoops still there, but I've changed my tune. He has had 5 more years with Dabo, a completely different coach from Stoops or Snyder, learned more, created more inroads into recruiting the southeast, etc. His players at OU absolutely loved the guy and would like to see him back. He is still a young man, relatively speaking, with fire in his belly. I think he'd be a good hire.
