GATOR BOWL VS TEXAS A&M, psyche RUTGERS

WF ran for 246 yards in that Belk Bowl vs. aTm

that seems...unlikely this time around

JAX is a weirdly expensive airport. In the event I go, I might try to make the 9-hour drive from Richmond on Thursday, and spend Fri night-Monday in Savannah or Charleston.

aTm is a better opponent than Arkansas given the Elko / Santucci history

Santucci as our next DC? Maybe he’ll bring an LB with him?

Why not fly into hilton Head or daytona and drive from there on 17 or a1?

Yeah I checked flights. Wowzers.

That doesn’t really save any money after you rent a car (which is also a huge nightmare at the moment. No guarantee there would even be one there for you when you land).

Car rentals these days would probably offset the price difference. Besides, I hate Daytona Beach and never want to set foot there again.

I might fly to CHS or SAV because I want to go to those places anyway, but I also have enough time to make the drive.

Yeah, I just checked and it's normally about $250 from CLT, but $500 to $700 for 12/30 - 1/1. But it's only about 5-5.5 hours driving from here, so I wouldn't be flying anyway.

I was born in College Station and grew up an Aggie - my grandfather went there and my dad got his phd there - so I've watched a fair amount of aTm games this year. Their QB is pretty shaky at times and is prone to some bad throws, but their run game is very solid and the defense could be a real problem for the Deacs. My dad and brother talked a lot of shit a few years ago and were full of excuses when they lost, but I think it's going to be a lot harder this time around, especially if the offense stalls like it did against Pitt.

No issues with the Gator, I just wish we could play someone else. I like playing new teams in bowl games, not teams we played just a handful of years ago.

Unfortunately neither we or the players get to choose the opponent lol. They receive a bowl invitation to play against an opponent and in a location that is decided on by the respective bowl committees. I realize we just played A&M in Charlotte a few years ago, but this is the Gator Bowl people! Time to rally! Roll call!!!

Their band should provide interesting halftime entertainment. They were pretty amazing to watch.

Roll call!

Mods please start a roll call thread if we don’t have one already. Need to see who will be in JAX at the end of the month.

I despise TAMU- Jimbo being there just adds to the stench that rises from College Station. Playing them again in 4 years is not bad- and if we can beat them, it will give this team and our program some credibility from general perceptions of their program. Win or lose it will be a measure of where coaches and players we need to go to compete at a higher level. We have not done so well with better teams and bigger games so being in a better bowl will help with that. I really want to win this game. We have time to prepare and get healthier-let's see where we are. Wake can do this.

Good assessment that we have not done so well against better teams or in bigger games. We do well on the ACCN though. So, there's that.

Yeah I am scratching my head at that a bit also. We had quite a few possibilities of playing teams we had played recently. Only exceptions were Holiday bowl and Kentucky. NO thanks to Kentucky. Holiday Bowl would have been cool, but we would have been trading a better destination for a worse bowl and worse opponent

unpopular opinion but I would like to see Wake play Kentucky in football. I think Stoops and Clawson have done fairly equivalent jobs raising the profile of both programs, Kentucky losses to Georgia/Tennessee are fairly equivalent to Wake's losses to Clemson/Carolina.

Legacy, location, opponent.

Gator Bowl is older, but so is the Sun Bowl and it doesn't seem to so be highly regarded. San Diego is a much better location than Jacksonville. And I would have rather played UCLA, who we have never played, than play Texas A&M again.

From a program building perspective I actually think that is a great argument. And fo course it would have been a different team than we have played recently.

Good, more weird posing by their male cheerleaders
