2021 Football Coaching Carousel

If Duke hires Monken are they going to go as a full on option team in a Power V conference? It would be a pain in the ass to play against the offense every year, and Duke could recruit better athletes than Army; they would win some games, but this could actually help WF in recruiting as WF goes head to head often with Duke, and no quality receivers or quarterbacks will want to play in that offense.

Elko would be a great hire as well. Would be interesting to see how quickly he turns around that sad sack defense.

Jason Garrett. That's funny. Bring on the Red Jesus.

If Duke goes all in on the option, WFU needs to go get Mehki Wall, out of Dudley. No way he keeps his commitment if they don't throw the ball. That kid is a baller.

What I always found kind of strange with Johnson's tenure at Tech, is that they seemed to still have some really good receivers during his time. Because you don't throw often in that offense and when you do it often goes for big plays, it's not surprising their receivers would have some gaudy yards per catch numbers, but they had guys that would've been really good WR's in any offense without beating themselves up so much blocking on 90 percent of the snaps.

Calvin Johnson preceded Johnson at GT, but he was underutilized by Chan Gailey. Under Johnson, GT had Demaryius Thomas who was a super-talented and first round pick. He only played 3 years, before going pro. In his junior (and last year), Thomas had only 46 catches in 14 games, but he AVERAGED 25 yards a catch. In that offense, if you have a QB with any arm talent and a decent receiver, he is going to be wide-ass open a lot.

Playing Army was a disaster this year. Playing Army in the future and/or another option team regularly is just fucked up.

For instance, is Garnes ready to go? He can actually tackle and is fast. He would maybe, maybe have been in that huge open space that Pickett just fake slid through.

Or he would have tackled Pickett for the easy sack (good design Hemphill, it's the players whiffing) instead of whiffing, kind of like he tackled the Syracuse QB for the key sack in OT.

Who else did we lose at least part-time, in the Army game, specifically from our defense? Clawson made it sound like we were really "dinged up" after the game.

If you want to cancel something...cancel the Army agreement.

How do you look at the way Louisville's athletic department has been run the last few years and say "Yes, give me some of that"

Apologize if this is Haas, Miami has flipped Clemson's AD, Dan Radakovich: https://www.miamiherald.com/sports/college/acc/university-of-miami/article256428431.html Miami now feels like it has a "dream team" running Miami sports with Radakovich and Cristobal.

Big-time talent drain in Tiger Town. Guessing that Dabo will essentially be running everything now. Wonder who Clemson goes after as its new AD? Would think Mike Buddie might be a candidate. He was the AD at Furman before taking the Army job. He obviously has deep ACC ties.

LOLUL

Couldn't happen to a better group of people.

Will fusiondad apply for the position???

Clemson folks are high on a young internal candidate (Radakovich's #2?) who likely gets the promotion full-time but it's in name only as Dabo continues to run that athletic department.

I think they’re going internal & promoting the deputy AD.

Yup. It was all Lembo until it wasn’t.

If memory serves, PhDeac was one of the lead conductors on the Lembo train.

Hang on... found a few winners from the thread during the search back in 2013:

So then what's the hold up with Lembo? Everything about him sounds incredible.

And again his APR at Ball freakin State is basically less than half a percentage point than Grobe's at Wake.

You all are stretching to make the case for Clawson over Lembo. Lembo wins right away and wins more games.

Wellman is going to hire another .500 coach from a MAC school. Not much younger than Grobe when he was hired either.

Unbelievable. We can do better with Lembo.

90-80 career record or 104-48?

Lembo is more impressive in every way except not being from Wellman's alma mater and home state.

Undepheated again.

FWIW, Pete Lembo is now the special teams coach at S. Carolina.
