Wake Golf 2024 - Women finish 9th and Men 16th

Deacs making a move. Currently, have the low round of the day. That said, WF is currently T5. Top 5 advance.

Is there a sport with a bigger home advantage than golf? It really seems unfair to allow teams to play at home during the NCAAs, regardless of ranking.
Who is going to agree to be a host school for an NCAA golf regional (definitely not revenue-generating) if you don't let the host team play in the regional? You'd be begging muni courses to host your regionals if you implemented that rule.

then you reward the top seeds by having them host, like in baseball.

Little harder to turn around the hosting duties for a golf tournament (where you are taking away the general public's ability to play on that course for 4-5 straight days) on about a week's notice than it is a baseball or softball hosting spot.

suddenly 4 shots clear of 6th. state and purdue finally regressing to their mean.

amazingly we have a combined 1 birdie out of 3 players today. the other 2 are killing it though.

Did WF offer to host the women's regional?

If not, STFU.

WF is the second closest team to Raleigh in the regional. Would bet that Coach Lewellen took the team over Raleigh for several practice rounds.

Girls are playing great today. Up to 4th and 5 shots clear of 6th place. Rachel and Chacarra being the studs that they are.

Wake Forest is the designated host school at Bermuda Run CC - East Course for 2024 (women's regional) and 2026 (men's regional), fyi.

It's 2023. So, WF was not going to host this year.

That is correct, no amount of complaining was going to change that this year. Couldn't ask for anything better than a short car/bus ride 80 miles down the road to your regional (when the NCAA tries to balance them out by seeding as much as possible so they send schools all over the country to play.....witness UNC and Clemson being sent to the regional in Washington state).

fell off at the end and turned a great round into a good round.

we are in at 1 over. teams are dropping shots so we should be in better shape at the end of the day than now.

Yeah bad finish. One shot clear of 6th, and 3 shots clear of 7th. Will be a dogfight tomorrow. Good news is it looks like we will probably turn in the best team score of the day by 4-5 shots so hopefully bodes well for us.

It looks like tomorrow will be a tight finish with two teams tied for 5th at +2, which is just one shot back of the Deacs at +1 (FSU at +1 but not done yet). And TCU and Florida not out of it either.

Oh it's definitely absurd that teams are guaranteed to play at their home course if they agree to host and make the tournament. State is the 8 seed in the region and currently winning. It's absolute garbage

FSU leaking oil coming home - Deacs are top 3 and will be in the final group tomorrow.
