Israel Attacked and its Response

yeah, I can’t deny that. It’s a flaw of my personality to be 3x more invested in an argument than whoever I’m arguing with. People do not like it.
Its especially ironic considering the people you are so passionately supporting would happily saw your head off with a dull knife and livestream the whole thing on Twitter.

But you do you

Reminds me of this. Lol

The church halls were apparently hit and not the actual church.

My cousins flew to Tel Aviv for a Jerusalem vacation and landed just as the attacks started. They had quite an adventure trying to get back stateside. They had a bunch of cancelled trips and eventually ended up in Cyprus, Egypt and finally Tampa. Following updates via emails and Facebook was surely interesting.

Apparently, DeSantis got involved with one of the non-profits evacuating people bc of "inefficiencies" and then a host of screw ups ensued such as mechanical failures grounding a plane, only 20 out of 120 people being evacuated and then getting stuck in Egypt for a bit as people being evacuated back to the US were not all Americans and did not have proper paperwork so they couldn't stay on schedule to return to Florida. They just got back to the US so I will wait a bit before asking for more details into what the saw on the ground and behind the scenes.

Isn’t that doing a disservice to the people whom you champion? Like all the people who are suffering in the hellish conditions of Gaza, if they had the opportunity you had to live free in America do you think they’d waste it by being so unhappy with world events that it’d get them worked up to the point that they’d be unhappy living here and stating that they want to live in Ireland instead?

pinocha, this whole “grandpa posting in the Fox News comment section” schtick is tired. We all lived through 9/11 with a bunch of reactionary Islamophobic rubes, so these little asides of yours aren’t enlightening or clever. This isn’t packpride, do better.

That reminds me, since everything old is new again, are all the shithead young men going to put the “Infidel” stickers on the back glass of their trucks? I didn’t miss that.

Seems like DeSantis is much better at flying immigrants through the US than he is at flying Americans into the US.

Ron’s a clown…but he did some like one of the few politicians who at least tried to help Americans get out. Compared to the rest of the GOP candidates, at least he did something.

For those frustrated about the lack of reliable, verifiable reporting on Gaza, there is one party to blame. In addition to its blockade of water, medical supplies, and fuel, Israel also has a complete foreign media blockade of Gaza. It means we have to either rely on citizens in Palestine or the word of the Israeli government for reporting most of the time, which is why you get so much back and forth and months later confirmations of information.

Of course it doesn’t help that we’ve got a media illiteracy problem in the US that has been multiplied by Twitter in the Musk era. The same thing has happened with the so-called democratization of news on platforms like WhatsApp and Discord globally as well. When you let media empires consolidate platforms and hollow out journalistic institutions this is the logical end product.

Okay, so nothing in our lifetimes.
2021 - Protests in Chile result in the writing of a new constitution
2020 - Protests in India move the government to repeal farm law changes that hurt small farmers
2020 - Protests in Argentina lead to the legalization of abortion
2020 - Guatemala - protests against school budget cuts force the government to restore funding
2019 - protests in Puerto Rico force the resignation of Governor Rosello
2018 - March For Our Lives helps enact stricter gun laws in Florida (not enough, but moved the needle more than had previously been done)
1971 - Occupation of Alcatraz - led to more self-determination by Indiginous tribes
1969 - Stonewall Riots let to nearly all gains for LGBTQ rights
