I woke up this morning thinking I would rather be mentored by Dave Doeren than Dave Clawson. Even with cash money it’s a travesty.

I’m not even sure that front 4 makes us very good, but I’m in full agreement about also needing depth.Ganious can come back for one more year, right?
Davis - Pointer - Ganious - Wayman is a pretty good front 4. Need depth.
I think they key to the front four, would be to get another good DT. Again, either somebody on the roster takes a big jump or through the portal. Pointer was a freaking man up front for us and another off season to get even stronger and bigger, he'll be even more of a force. Would love to see us get that squatty, 300lb run stopper DT to go with Pointer and hopefully have Williams and Ganious for a good 4 man rotation up there.I’m not even sure that front 4 makes us very good, but I’m in full agreement about also needing depth.
Our defense wasn’t all that good still, just not as bad as prior years. 69th per SP+, up from 92 and 97 in 21/22.
We got basically no pash rush. 23 sacks, but 14 of them against Elon and ODU. Just 9 total in our other 10 games. Jasheen with 4 of those 9, and Jacob Roberts with 2.5 more.
Also only 48 TFL and 12 turnovers across those 10 other games. Jasheen had 17 TFL on the season. The rest of our D-line had 17.5 combined. We just don’t force any mistakes by our opponents. And we won’t have our #2/3/4 tacklers Roberts/Mustapha/Garnes there to clean up behind the line.
All that to say I think we desperately need a starter on the d-line out of the portal.

Really insightful.I’m not even sure that front 4 makes us very good, but I’m in full agreement about also needing depth.

Yeah, but the problem is as soon as we develop them and they show their ability to be really good at this level, other teams will be coming for them. The days of almost being certain that if you redshirt a kid, start getting him some PT as a RS freshman and then having a really good 3 year contributor starting with their RS Sophomore year are long gone.Really insightful.
I would just say that it just seems a forgotten piece that college programs do develop players from within. Jasheen Davis redshirted as a freshman, and then had a strong year as a RS freshman; same with Boogie Basham and Zach Tom and Jurgens on the OL. Just seems crazy that with the transfer portal that fans/media seem to forget that there are incoming recruits sitting out as true freshman, but are ready to contribute, and sometimes even star as red-shirt freshman.
That's really what good programs do rather than just try to find a one year solution from Toledo or Holy Cross. Not saying EVERY hole will be filled by a rising true frosh, but got to believe that there are some areas where WF can fulfill the need from younger players already on the roster. Kind of a crazy thought. These days, the mode of thinking is to look at what contributors are leaving and think that every spot has to be filled by a transfer; that really is a short-sighted way to look at a football roster. Recruiting and developing HS players has to remain the priority for WF.
Ha! Sorry! It was a weirdly worded twitter post so it threw me!guys i PAINSTAKINGLY listed everyone's eligibility for next year and current status on the first post of the thread
Hell yeah
That’s a normal December. This year he’s probably not even as busy without bowl prep at the same time.I see Dave was at the Hecklinski household this weekend. Has to re-recruit his current team, retain actual high school recruits and go out and buy missing pieces.
God bless the man and his stamina! I really think Dave will figure this thing out.
