Our base offense is quite creative, by nature, so our staff always gets praise for being innovative. But, as we often discuss on here, it can be somewhat Army/Navy-esque, in that it doesn't have a ton of creativity beyond our base plays that, for years, were working and almost impossible to stop for non-elite defenses.

Now that teams have started to better attack and handle the slow-mesh, I think and hope we'll see more in the way of screens, jet sweeps, pop passes, more dynamic route combinations, and the occasional (gasp) trick play.

So 1 thing, yesterday was the start early signing period, there is another signing period in February where guys in this recruiting class can sign. Just because guy's dont sign yesterday doesnt mean they are greyshirts. Greyshirts would come in after next season, and I haven't seen any indication that is happening (I mean apparently Conor mentioned something about these two recruits on his paysite yesterday, but with two kids in daycare I really can't commit to that right now, but if you can afford it you should, because Conor does a good job overall, even if he does write for duke, but thats another issue altogether.
I don't want to totally scoop our beat reporters, but they are currently planned to be greyshirts.

The following football Deacs received degrees this month:

Ah yes. Fans calling for the jet sweep. Happens every year. If only the staff was savvy enough to see the light.
Our fan base has been clamoring for more jet sweeps going back at least as far as the Willie Idlette/Kevin Marion days in the Lobo regime 😂

At Wake, creativity on offense is a premium and likely always will be. I think the 2023 staff gets a D- in this area but take Clawson at his word that he's rethinking things. I do think they were so shell shocked at the Griffis disaster they had no plan B.

Lots of hand wringing on this thread about our offense. While this year sucked and I’m in no way defending the staff with regards to 2023, I think a little perspective is warranted. We have recently (with the exception of this year) been living in the golden age of Wake Forest offensive football. The late Wolford/Newman/Hartman years were so much more fun compared to the third and six, shotgun draw shit we had to endure under Lobo (when I was in school and my fandom started).

A little perspective, this season Wake ranked:
#114 in scoring offense
#104 in total offense

That’s comparable to the Lobo offenses.

It is kind of impressive to finish DFL in the conference and not a single positional coach or coordinator loses their job. We are running it back with the whole crew and a new QB next year and hoping for the best.

They had a strong track record coming into this year with four different QBs. They shouldn’t make any personnel changes except QB.

It makes me wonder what he's going to get next year. MBA? JD? Another masters in a specific discipline?

The MA in Project Management is out of the School of Professional Studies in Charlotte. I didn’t even know they had this school. It’s an online program. He could start one of the several other MA programs they have.

And he only has to stay through Winter Break. So he can enroll in whatever and just bounce.
