But did Ball State have an arena that only opened 5 years prior available to play in right down the street? I don’t disagree that the Joel isn’t ideal, but in the late 80s (it opened in ‘89, right?), I think it probably made the most sense at the time to take advantage of playing in a city owned arena. And once that was done, the die was cast for sometime.
In a non-NIL world, we probably would spend the money to reconfigure the Joel, but I don’t think that’s the best use of our available funds at this point.
