So, who transfers? Chennault, Desrosiers, and Fields...

Please stop. TC can't shoot, he can only drive one way. He's slow, he has bad court vision, he's a bad decision maker with the ball and he struggles getting through screens. He may be the worst point guard in the league.

I would put Mfon Udofia in the conversation, but nevertheless, the point stands that TC ain't very good.

Why did we not pursue any SG harder. We have CJ and Chase, but Harris being a senior we could of used another one over having 4 sf's.

We "have Chase" and he no longer makes 2 pointers or 3 pointers. Or, even attempts to shoot at all. So, what do we have?

This thread makes me ask the questions "is rj actually the longest running parody alter ego in wake internet history? If so, does he know it?"

What your posts prove is mommy still puts your name in your undies and your mittens on a string.

With each post you make about basketball you prove Mark Twain's adage about keeping one's mouth shut.

Zing. How long have been saving that one?

Disagree. Robinson was put into a shitty situation at State and had to deal with the post Valvano fallout.

[Redacted] is/was just a shitty hire.

I mean...it's not as though Bz was handed a championship caliber squad himself. Obviously it's a bad hire, but I think this is a decent comparison.

The Valvano fallout was much worse than our program two years ago. What was the name of that book? Personal Fouls?

Not a valid comparison.

Our program was in the situation any program gets into after losing key players to the NBA and graduating seniors.

RJ is one of the very few reasonable posters on this site. Nice comeback RJ.

I've posted this on another thread but I feel it's worth correcting this revisionist history wherever I see it. This was the roster Bzz inherited when he was hired. I have included the espn overall recruiting ranking.

SG Gary Clark #95
C Ty Walker #58
C Tony Woods #27
SF Ari Stewart # 54
SG JT Terrell #49
SF Travis McKie #60
C Carson Desrosiers #64
PF Melvin Tabb # 74

PG CJ Harris 3*
PG Tony Chennault 3*

So he inherited two sophomores who had shown the ability to score consistently and showed flashes of excellence (carolina game). Two highly touted centers who had yet to produce much but certainly had the physical tools to compete in the ACC. Two immediate impact freshman in JT and Travis.

He inherited a young team with some glaring weaknesses and severe confidence issues. That team did have talent though. That roster wasn't winning any championships regardless of the coach but it also wasn't indicative of a program in ruins as many have tried to portray it recently.

The current talent level at Wake is 1. Not as bad as people claim (we had two top 17 ACC players) and 2. At least partially Bzz's fault.

I think Townie's point is that, despite what those rankings looked like, the actual situation was far worse than we originally perceived. Some of the blame has to lie with Bz, but just saying "We had top talent! Great classes!" really overlooks fundamental problems with players like Tony Woods, Ari Stewart, JT Terrell, Melvin Tabb, Tony Chennault, Ty Walker, and Carson Desrosiers.

Some of those guys made bone-headed decisions off the court. Some of them were just terrible basketball players. Still others were ranked so highly based on potential, not ability. Either way, they turned out to be far less than their Scout/Rivals ranks would indicate. It's disingenuous to say that Bz didn't inherit a broken program at the time, even if that program looked high and mighty coming off a fine season and an NCAA berth.

Most programs would kill for that level of recruiting, on paper that's a better roster than 9 other teams in the ACC. Too bad those recruits didn't pan out.
