Ryan endorsed Wisconsin Republican, State Rep. Roger Rivard speaking of his Father...

He also told me one thing, ‘If you do (have premarital sex), just remember, consensual sex can turn into rape in an awful hurry.’ Because all of a sudden a young lady gets pregnant and the parents are madder than a wet hen and she’s not going to say, ‘Oh, yeah, I was part of the program.’ All that she has to say or the parents have to say is it was rape because she’s underage. And he just said, ‘Remember, Roger, if you go down that road, some girls,’ he said, ‘they rape so easy.’

What the whole genesis of it was, it was advice to me, telling me, ‘If you’re going to go down that road, you may have consensual sex that night and then the next morning it may be rape.’ So the way he said it was, ‘Just remember, Roger, some girls, they rape so easy. It may be rape the next morning.’

Over use of the word rape

Words that should never be uttered in succession:

'They rape so easy'

I think those comments were much more true in his father's day than they are nowadays. Now they only claim rape if you hump em and dump em. If you knock em up, it's money time.

That scenario is not completely insane because I think it is safe to say that invalid rape claims have been made before, but it is completely insane for a public figure to state it verbally as if it happened on a regular basis.

Invalid rape accusations DO happen, but I think it's a very small percentage compared to violent, non-consensual rape. (or LEGITIMATE rape)

This.

They scared the shit out of us my freshman year at Wake.

Basically if a girl has had a beer and you have sex, she can claim rape.

I was friends with a guy that I played football with that was falsely accused of rape. Consensual sex turned into rape when the girl's mom found out. He was being recruited by several colleges all of which went away. In her testimony at trial the girl came clean.

That being said, I'm certain that BBD's statements are true and that this happens far more infrequently than rapes. Why would that ever come up in conversation?

I remember Boo Robinson asking in HES why it's not the same when guys claim rape after they get drunk.

Coming soon to the bar scene...

"Damn girl! You look so rape easy tonight!" Panty dropper.

Incoherent babble. Translation: be careful who you sleep with, son. Which is actually not bad advice. But man, the failure to communicate the message clearly is alternately hilarious and disturbing.

Did he clarify whether he was talking about legitimate rape or not? Because if the rape was legitimate, she couldn't get pregnant, thus if she was pregnant, there was no rape. If the girl, OTOH, was not pregnant, then the guy raped her. Pretty sure my math/science is right on that one.

baby = no rape

no baby = rape

He didn't, did he? I thought he was quoting his dad.

And no doubt his dad is right, though it's more likely today that she'll just be in your wallet the rest of your life.

Still, it's a real thing that happens, especially when parents get irrational.

I wouldn't call this "crazy".

Swofford stands alone again....both sides think it's a crazy position....
