This season is on Ron Wellman

Wake absolutely could do that, but that would have nothing to do with Wellman - it's just increasing the budget. The whole Vandy lacks an Athletic Department is overblown anyway, they have the same athletic positions as almost every other school, they just call them something different and...

Not really an apples to apples comparison. After removing Turner and merging the department, the university significantly increased their investment and budget for Athletics. That's what has helped Vandy turn things around. No comment on Williams.

MTOW, Reinvigorated, Wellman Looks to the Future

For whatever value this may be. Obviously there is a lot of room for variance in success, but there also seems to be a general trend in that the greater your investment, the more successful the program. School Budget Miami $24,672,810 V Tech $24,596,694 Florida State...

All facilities now are soon to be outdated - or need some kind of updating every few years. If we choose not to spend money on soon to be outdated facilities, then we are not building facilities.

I agree with you. It's a large part of the reason for why we are where we are competitively.

Much has changed in the past 10-15 years, since Grobe and Skip took over. The rapid expansion of fundraising and sponsor revenue, along with NCAA loosening restriction on provisions for athletes, meant an enormous escalation of what schools could provide student-athletes. So the gap in school...

I'm not saying the Athletic Department is infallible, I just don't know nearly enough to criticize anyone. The one thing I do know is our budgets are lower than our peers, and my hope is that our most ardent fans and supporters help increase this budget by increasing our donations. If we do...

Our soccer facility, tennis stadium, and golf complex are great. You are right. Deacon Tower is great, but not nearly enough to overcome our deficiencies in many other areas of the Football program. I mean, if you think about it, if we have the lowest budget in the ACC, we have to be...

Facilities are very much about quantity. Some facilities built 5 years ago can be already outdated. The Sports Center we are working on will be a brand new facility...by the time it's done, it will be about 5-7 years too late, and then put us that much further behind the schools that have...

Ph, I'm not sure what your point is. A restaurant could make great pizza, but still not be making enough of it to meet demand. I'm just not about placing blame on any one individual. I think the fault lies mainly in our budget, compared to that of our competitors. I want us to collectively...

WF Sports 2013-4 Year In Review

I've gotta think the waning interest had an impact on the coaching changes. Not sure how big an impact, but I've got to assume there was at least something on some level. Withholding donations I think can be an effective strategy at producing failure and forcing changes. The problem is that...

MTOW, Reinvigorated, Wellman Looks to the Future

I think it is very important that we understand just how far behind Wake Forest is in some facility upgrades that many mid-major schools have now. A prime reason our teams have failed to perform is recruiting. A prime reason our recruiting has failed is facilities and budget-related. It's...

You can designate a gift to a specific project if that is more comfortable; make a gift directly to Football, or to Baseball, or wherever you would like it to go. That said, I would still encourage just give to the Deacon Club. Salaries are salaries; I don't think our Athletic Department...

I won't argue at all with your opinion, that's fine; I'll leave my own opinion out of this. But if the issue at hand is how do we help improve our teams, a clear answer to me seems to be to increase our donations. Regardless of who our AD is, we are going to need money to succeed. Withholding...

Not really arguing with this, just wondering if you could expand on that? If we have the lowest football expenses in the ACC, would any finish above last qualify as a success? I would think those expenses have to include debt service on Deacon Tower and other similar enhancements.
