CBM: X-Men '97; Deadpool and Wolverine trailer

Some really good stuff. Some really bad stuff.

Using Darkseid may well raise eyebrows about copying Marvel's movie path. Darkseid and Thanos are basically clones - mega cosmic powered purple dudes that want to destroy the universe.

Justice League should use Starro. Who wouldn't want to see a movie about a giant mind controlling space starfish?

Justice League vs. Starro Superman. It's a cop out but it would possible work.

Interesting perspectives on the viability of a DC cinematic universe after Man of Steel (spoilers):

I especially like this point because it shows how one of the weaknesses of the film can turn into a fantastic strength:

Drew McWeeny: While I absolutely want to see some of the bigger and crazier villains from the Superman rogue's gallery, I suspect Lex Luthor has to show up in the next film. One of the things that critics of the film seem upset by is the destruction in the last act, and a great way for Goyer and Snyder to tackle that head-on would be to have Lex Luthor step in to pay for everything to be repaired. He could easily start to win people over to the idea of Superman as a menace instead of a hero, and a righteous Luthor is always a more interesting Luthor. Once they get him right, then bring on the freak parade.

In other news, Marvel announced two untitled projects for the first weekend in May in 2016 and 2017.

Why lift the spoilers ban on this thread if there's a fairly sizable thread already marked for spoilers?

The spoiler ban is usually lifted after opening weekend, so people can continue the broader discussions from before the movie came out and the broader implications beyond the film. If more people don't want spoilers here, I'll put no spoilers back in the title.

Nah, it's fine. We've been doing the three days rules for a while now. I say all bets are off now.

2016 and 2017 have to be follow ups to Avengers 2, probably more Captain America and Thor titles...OR they could be planning to expand the universe with some properties they just got back (Daredevil please and thank you).

Summer openings for Thor 3 and Cap 3 are possible. Rooting for Daredevil though.

The plot is explained in the first two minutes. The plot is simple and looks like it would be very engaging.

Captain America gets new costume for Winter Soldier. Looks like a throwback to his WWII costume which is much better in my opinion.

Other Captain America updates:

Anthony Mackie is playing the Falcon.

The plot is described as a 1970's style political thriller.

Howard Stark will also be in the new movie.

You can see the Falcon's costume at the link below.

Here's some new stuff about the S.H.I.E.L.D.

"Bennet plays Skye, the hacktivist behind the blog Rising Tide (which has gone dark!) that gets recruited into S.H.I.E.L.D.'s forces, kind of against her will. IGN found out a bit more about Bennet's character.

"...I can say that she is this superhero-obsessed girl, in a way where she's just in awe of it, but she's also skilled in the sense that she can kind of get herself into these situations. You know, I think she's going to enjoy the ride, just like myself. I think she'll have fun.

When asked how Chloe will respond to the superhumans she comes into contact with, Bennet said, "I think she would be more one to play it a little bit cool, but then have those geek-out moments. She's not quite a cosplay girl, she's not exactly a fangirl, but she gets really excited -- but it's in here [tapping chest], just like all of us about the show, I think."

We talked about a possible Star Wars Land when the news broke that Disney had bought Lucasfilm and Star Wars.

"Robert Niles over at Theme Park Insider seems pretty confident in proclaiming a Star Wars Land:

Multiple sources have told me the long-awaited dream of theme park geeks everywhere is actually happening. Disney’s moving ahead with both Cars Land and Star Wars Land at the Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World.

From what I’m hearing, Cars Land will replace the Lights, Motors, Action auto stunt show as well as Catastrophe Canyon on the southern edge of the park, providing a logical extension to the existing Pixar Place.

[...]

So what about Star Wars Land? The logical places for that expansion would be on either side of the existing Star Tours ride. From what I’ve heard, it appears that the expansion would take out the area between Star Tours and the auto stunt show stadium, including the Muppet theater and Honey, I Shrunk the Kids play area. But I’ve also heard of consideration of going in the opposite direction, which would place the new land on the site of the Backlot Express restaurant and Indiana Jones stunt show theater. Given that the Indy theater’s used for several other events throughout the year, and that both the Muppets and Honey I Shrunk the Kids attractions long ago passed the height of their popularity, I’m hearing more forceful arguments for the first option.

This appears to be a five-year project, putting completion in 2018, though Disney could choose to throw money at it and accelerate it by a year.

Star Wars fan blog TheForce.net confirms the buzz, adding an anonymous source:

Speaking of Star Tours, it seems like that attraction will be receiving upgrades as part of the Star Wars land. “Expect to see new levels added to Star Tours and some more interactive attractions, possibly an additional ride,” my Disney source said. However, my source added that “most of the expansion will be environments and character meet-and-greet areas.”

That would help Hollywood Studios immensely and it would be perfect timing for when both of my boys should be huge Star Wars fans and big enough to ride all the rides.

Guardians of the Galaxy News

---However, we do know — thanks to JoBlo (via ScreenRant) — that the film’s lead villain is Ronan the Accuser (even though Thanos plays a crucial role), and the Guardians will operate out of Knowhere (their base of operations, a space station with the ability to teleport throughout the universe).

--- Last week we found out that the Guardians would not make an appearance in The Avengers 2, and we’ve recently learned that Earth’s Mightiest Heroes won’t be in Gunn’s flick either.

We’ve also learned that Captain America will play an instrumental role in setting up The Avengers 2. Whether he’ll make a brief appearance in Thor: The Dark World is up for debate, albeit Captain America: The Winter Soldier has already been described as “Avengers 1.5″ by Anthony Mackie, who plays The Falcon in the aforementioned film.

Weird considering Galaxy has the supposed Avengers 2 villain. Cap 2 must focus on the cosmic cube.

This thread is probably as good a place to post this as anywhere else:

Do you guys know of any good sites to purchase back issues of comics? eBay is hit or miss and my local comic shops charge full price.
