Wake Golf 2024 - Women’s ACC Tournament April 18-21; Men's ACCT April 19-22

Winning both the Stephens Cup and the East Lake Cup this fall lays down a marker for next spring—taking out Texas, USC, and Stanford in match play is very encouraging.

Probably doesn’t hurt recruiting to have all of this time on national television, either.

Texas, SCal, Stanford are all elite teams, with Oregon and LSU. Texas and Wake have tied twice in stroke play. Wake finished ahead of Stanford once and trailed them once. Also trailed Oregon in Chicago. Top 4 at this point probably LSU, Oregon, Wake, and Stanford.

Looks like Macy Pate is solid in the lineup. To win the NCAA championship again would mean either Brooke Rivers or Anne-Sterre den Dunnen steps in as a very good 5th. Unless Rivers is hurt, it appears that den Dunnen has the 5th spot right now since she has gotten all of the match play.

The WF men open the 2024 Winter/Spring season today in Malibu.

FIELD — There are 13 teams in the field, including #78 Pepperdine, #4 Washington, #18 Cal, #21 Texas Tech, #27 Ohio State, #31 UCLA, #34 San Diego State, #42 Wake Forest, #48 San Jose State, #72 Houston, #79 UNLV, #80 USC and #102 Colorado.

Deac Michael Brennan won the individual title at this event last year.

The WF women are playing in the Moon Golf Invitational in FL. Stacked field. Carolina Chacarra is not playing and Mimi Rhodes withdrew; so WF playing with just 4 golfers; all scores count; WF roster only has six players. Lady Deacs currently tied for 11th.

Not terrible considering CC did not play at all and Mimi Rhodes did not play on Monday or Tuesday. One bad round and no really good rounds. But that's what happens playing short-handed.

Line up came out for the women’s tournament starting tomorrow. All of these ladies can flat out play but looks like there are still some injuries going on.

Lady Deacs playing with just 4 again at the Darius Rucker Invitational. Chacarra and Rhodes are out. Realize that this team is talented, but going with a 6 person roster seems unecessarily risky. Case in point, Rachel Kuehn is have a rough round and WF has fallen down the leaderboard.

agree completely, if they had a 7th player on the team, she could have filled in the 5th spot in this tournament and if she had even just one good round out of the 3, it would have moved Wake up several spots. But I imagine recruiting extra players is much easier said than done, because you are asking the 7th player (who could play for many other college teams) to come to Wake with the possibility of never getting to play-although the idea of just being on a great team with really nice girls and super coaches, plus getting a fantastic and partially free education at Wake would seem really appealing. .

For example, Wake had 3 extra players who never played much but were really good, finish up their careers at Wake last year. they all apparently had playing time left and are now on the playing squad of D-1 teams elsewhere, actually playing matches.

When do they generally announce the pairings for the ACCs this weekend?

After struggling this Spring with injuries and illness, the WF Women's Golf team looks to have its full lineup intact for the ACC Women's Golf Championship starting tomorrow (Thursday) morning at Wilmington's Porters Neck Country Club.

If we get 3 or 4 birdies on 18 like everybody else then we'll be in second by the time the round ends.

Alright, finished the day at -8, two back of Clemson and in second place.

2nd seeded Duke with a pretty bad +6, 11 back of the top four to make match play.

The cut to make the semifinals is top 4. After Clemson (-10) and WF (-8), there is three-way tie at (-5) between UVA, UNC and VT.
