Allowing teams to play on their home courses in NCAA Tournament play is garbage and should be stopped immediately.
Stanford finishes 30 shots clear of us in second, and is the only team under par (and -28 at that). Having that kind of advantage clearly affects the outcome of the competition. However, because this way of doing things likely saves the NCAA money, they will keep this system in place in spite of the competitive effect it has.
Who exactly do you think is going to be lining up at the door to host golf regionals if you prohibit the home teams from playing there? This isn't March Madness, where they don't need the draw of the home team to make it attractive to host. You prohibit teams from playing as the host school and you end up with a bunch of goat tracks to play on. Basically every college sport's post-season but the Men's Basketball championship allows the home team to play on their own course/court/field, this isn't just a golf phenomenon.
