WFU Hoops: '22-'23 Roster Construction Thread: +Ituka/Carr/Appleby/Bradford

Nice. So that’s possibly two Big East teams.

Deacs have played in the Kohl Center once and pulled an upset. At the time, Wisconsin had only lost a handful of games ever at home. IIRC, Josh Howard played on that WF team. Jacobi Neath revenge game. The Badgers lost a lot of backcourt scoring (Johnny Davis and Brad Davison) off a team that had trouble scoring.

Neath revenge game? OMG, wtf. Buh bye

Supposedly Forbes has a press conference today at 1pm to talk about Jake & Alondes and whatever else he's asked about.

Doesn't seem common for a college coach to hold a press conference in June just to talk about players who signed NBA contracts.

maybe he's talking schedule

Don't think that's the only aspect of the presser. Last year, he held a teleconference at about the same time to talk about how Summer workouts are progressing, advise on the team's workout schedule going forward (this year he will preview the overseas trip), to give injury updates, to go over the basketball schedule (ACC games were just announced) and just to answer general questions about the program. Our previous two coaches may have held a similar Summer presser, but no one GAF.

Good call, thatguy. I forgot the schedule came out today. Given that the schedule was a major problem last year, it makes sense to discuss it. Maybe he'll drop some nuggets about the OOC.

Around the 25 minute mark, Forbes provides info regarding how/why WF and the ACC got hosed in the NCAAT bid process. "Deacs would not have received a bid, even if WF had beaten BC and Miami in the ACCT; WF needed to beat Duke."

Some other tidbits:

- Monsanto has dropped 16 pounds
- Bradford has dropped 19 pounds
- Conditioning has been a big emphasis
- Appleby has been hurt (groin), but is expected back this week
- Keller has looked good in Summer workouts (has shown a good deep stroke)
- The Summer trip was initially slated to include Eastern Europe and Russia, but the Russian invasion of Ukraine caused an adjustment
- Carr and Keller are 6-10; Bradford is 6-11
- Portal wasn't as good this year as last year, but WF did "very well"
- Still looking to see if it makes sense to fill the 13 ship (could be a HS player; could be an international player, but WF won't take someone just to fill a roster spot)

Like that he is rewarding three walk-on guys by taking them on the European trip. Also like that a history prof is going along to teach some history/geography alongside the basketball.

Gotta say that the way he shares info is super genuine and professional. I'm more impressed with him every day. I hope that we keep him for a long time and can continue to upgrade the talent so we will see his true coaching potential.
