Sexual Assault Ignored at Baylor

Yep:

Joe Schad @schadjoe

Report says Baylor football coaches/staff sometimes met directly w complainants or their family and didn't report it further

Baylor has also hired a NY Firm to investigate possible NCAA violations and has self reported to NCAA

Wasnt he Chancellor of law School before he arrived at Baylor?

no idea.

Hard to tell from excerpts, but it looks like BU had a poor process for Title IX compliance and has for years. Not really surprising, as it seems to be the case with a lot of schools. Judging from the recommendations, it also looks like there was a poor communication process in place between the Waco and Baylor PD. What kills Briles is that members of his staff knew and didn't report it further. Of course, they aren't trained to handle something like that either. Curious about the retaliatory incident mentioned. That would seem to be the last straw.

Willful negligence.

I thought it would be nice for the NCAA to force Baylor to play home games at Floyd Casey this season to illustrate "this is why we can't have nice things", but I see they demolished that p.o.s. on May 14th of this year. Probably good foresight.

"Yeah Billy Bob we know your precious Bubba Jean was gang raped by some of our football players, but they's too good a football players for this to get out, so how bout some lifetime season tickets in one of the luxury boxes at our new digs, okay?"

Baylor is gonna get the shit sued out of them

Yes, they will. Plaintiffs will want the case tried anywhere, but Waco. Baylor will try to keep the suits in Waco. Forum will be huge. If these cases are tried out of town, Baylor will get hammered, but in town, Baylor is probably the number 1 or number 2 employer in Waco, not easy to get a massive verdict against the hand the feeds everyone that lives and works there. Not in their interest.

Is this a situation that would permit players to transfer out without having to sit out a year before playing?

In the short term, that is up to Baylor. If Baylor agrees to immediate eligibility for anyone that wants out, the NCAA would not block it in this situation. If Baylor wants to resist transfers, doubt the NCAA would act quickly enough to address and resolve the situation to allow immediate transfers.

No, this is a situation where high school football didn't turn boys into men. It turned them into criminals. And their coaches and administrators who also played high school football also turned out to be total shitheads.

It kinda goes without saying that other schools may want to wait before accepting Baylor transfers who may be accused of sexual assault as the dust settles.
