Chat Thread 77: It's inevitable, it's a fact that we're gonna get down to it

i don't think i could handle just salt. definitely needs something more for me to be able to handle it.

and i am a Y member. but i went last night for the first time in months. i only keep the membership because i'm on a family plan so it's super cheap ($25/month). every now and then i get the urge to go to a yoga or pilates class. but i have a gym in my office (free) that i usually use, and i am a member at the aquatic center too, so i mostly have my bases covered elsewhere. does metro have classes? since that's the only thing i use the Y for, i don't think i'd switch to a gym that didn't offer classes.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the gym in your building. Yeah, they've got classes, but it's mostly Crossift focused, which I don't do. You can add those classes for an extra fee. They have a few other yoga and circuit training classes, but not much. The great things about it for me are the location 1 mile from my house and the new equipment and space. Sounds like you've got everything you need, but why do you need the MAC and the Y since the Y has a pool?

I haven't been to my gym in months. I figure I'll use it eventually when it gets colder, but I hate running inside and I don't lift weights. Mostly because the weights are inhabited by the worst breed of people imaginable and it takes too long to get quality time while waiting on them to finish their crossfit routines.

My gym has the Crossfit people on their own side for classes and plenty of redundant equipment. You should consider joining a different gym.

the pool at the Y is awful. the lanes are tiny, it's always crowded, and they use an unbelievable amount of chlorine, so my skin is just destroyed every time i leave there. MCAC has ginormous lanes in comparison (they also have a really great masters swim team, which i do. the Y has one too, but the coach is awful, and the coach of the MCAC team is the best i've ever seen). i didn't like the idea of paying for both, but they let me be dhtoy's "family" at the MCAC, so it was an incremental $12 over what he had been paying, and then he joined my "family" at the Y, which saved him more than $30/month (he travels for work and liked to have the Y membership for when he was out of town). because of those changes, as a couple, we're actually saving money from where we were before, which helps us justify it. it's definitely overkill, and if we ever need to really cut expenses, the Y is getting dropped. but for now it's nice to be able to go to classes.

Yeah, I used to swim competitively and did so many laps in high school that when I tried to do it at the pool at Wake I quickly ended my swimming career. I was thinking about doing some laps at the MAC on occasion, but couldn't get motivated to do it. I swim some mornings at Foxcroft during the summer while the 5-year olds are practicing.

No one on board with the historical figure idea? I figured Townie would be all about the potential for lofty rhetoric.

yeah, wake's pool was terrible too (about on par with the dowd y). that's how i feel when i'm at dowd. i can't even get enough space to do anything other than freestyle. you're absolutely on top of people there. i've enjoyed being a member at the MCAC and getting to actually truly swim, not just swim for fitness/to burn a few calories. i'm getting to be competitive again (i swam competitively through some of elementary school, and all of middle/high school. my team was at MCAC too, so it holds a special place in my heart). it's awesome.

Girls seem to bruise easier. When they get like a handprint bruise after a romp in the sack, do they show it off to their friends?

I love that guy. Willow is one of my favorite movies of all time. I got in trouble for quoting it during class in the 1st grade.

I just didn't see him on the list, but given the dwarf meme, it made me :bowrofl:

isn't the point of the doppleganger board names to post like you normally would under your name? Moon is/was Kanye West but still posted as Moon, not how Kanye would post (which would be impressive to pull off imo)

I think you could go either way with it.

You are correct.
