Official 2013 NBA Draft Thread - That was great.

Don't think it's going to be an entertaining draft at all, actually.

The closer we get to this draft, the more convinced I am that the Horcats will find a way to screw it up. Which means Len, I guess.

Really? There are so many rumors right now and so many varied projections by front offices that this could really shape up to be a wild, trade-filled draft.

There are so many rumors because every agent and front office is trying to stir shit up. These players suck.

I'm sure teams blow smoke, but I do think a lot of them have genuinely different draft boards (because, you're right, the lottery players suck). Because of all the differing opinions I imagine we get some serious head-scratchers tonight.

On a sidenote, I love that the NBA gets their 2 rounds finished in one night. I enjoy the NFL Draft, but that damn thing lasts forever.

I really think getting Len at #4 is probably the right decision. Trading up to get him, not so much.

I just don't see it with him. To me at best he is a poor, poor man's Vlade Divac without the constant warzone facial hair. I'm not sure he is any better than Mullens or half a dozen other guys they could pick up for minimal money. Though I really should love him, considering I apparently hate black people.

Wojo from Yahoo just tweeted Oladipo is a "strong" choice for Orlando at #2, and #1 seems to be a 50/50 toss-up between Noel and Len for Cleveland if they keep the pick. Conceivably, the top 3 could go: Len, Oladipo, Porter...which means Charlotte would have their choice of Noel, McLemore and Bennett. That seemed absurd a couple of weeks ago. If they have those 3 guys available and STILL go with Zeller at #4, any goodwill built up from the Hornets name change for me will crash down.

Interesting, Roll. Because I woke up this morning convinced that everyone is totally over-thinking Zeller, that he might end up as the best pro is this draft, and that the Horncats need to get him somehow. I think he'll develop a 20 footer and be extremely effective for a long time. Smart, winning-program pedigree, professional family, big, skilled, runs the floor, extremely high character, athletic. What's not to like? So he got rejected a bunch in college playing out of position at the 5. Move him to the 4 and let him use his athleticism and speed. What does Chris Bosh do that Cody Zeller can't develop? And his game would fit perfectly next to Biyombo as a stretch 4, better even than Len. I'm 90% sold on the idea. (Of course, if the Horncats draft any of the 6 top-tier guys, excepting Porter, I can see the argument for each as well. What a crazy draft.)

Bottom line, I think you can make a strong argument for Zeller being the 4th pick in this draft. I'm praying Oladipo slips by Orlando, so that the Cats can pull the trigger on that Minny trade and bag Williams, Zeller, and a shooter at 26.

If Zeller is going to play the 4 in today's NBA, then shooting the corner 3 will make or break his career. Guys who are hard working and mechanically sound tend to be able to nail it over time though (Kawhi Leonard, Patrick Patterson, Paul Millsap, I'm sure there are others).

Problem is, where do you stick him on the defensive end?

I think he can guard NBA 4s, excepting the occasional Z-Bo type. Her's got the foot speed and athleticism. Biyombo can definitely guard 5s next to him.

I agree about the corner 3, but I see Zeller stroking that shot in 2 years. His form is excellent. His brother already hits deep-ish jumpers pretty well, and Cody is much better. I think he's the guy that every lottery team in two years says, what were we thinking?

Interesting that a guy with limited offensive game who played less than one year of college before blowing out his knee is the probable #1 pick.

Zeller could just as easily be a sucker's bet. He's not tough at all. If TRevor Mbakwe, the guys from Michigan State and others can push him around, what will happen in the NBA?

If they want him, they could trade down to 9/10 and get him

Chris Bosh is a terrific defender, something Zeller is never going to be. And you really think Zeller is going to put up 24/10 and single handedly carry a team on his back to a division title?

If you think he's going to be 75% of Chris Bosh, you take him #1 and run to the bank laughing. This draft fucking sucks.

Subjective feelings about a kid's "toughness," while playing out of position, don't cut much weight with me. Zeller seems to have all the components of a successful pro. His objective stats are very good. He just got picked apart by scouts and media because he had so much early success. Gun to your head --- who will have the better NBA career, Len or Zeller? Does Zeller really feel like a "bust" to you? I can't see it, but I understand the argument.

That trade-down with Minny has been discussed over the last few pages. I hope it happens. Oladipo has to slide to 4 though. I'd much rather draft Zeller at 9 then at 4, obviously. Zeller, D Williams, and, say, Crabbe, would be a great haul.

I think Cleveland should draft Porter. When no clear best prospect emerges, why not take the best fit?
