VT job now open - 2 and done !

Better hurry up, Ron. You're competing with VT over coaches now, even if VT is not as good of a job. HURRY UP!

You can't fire a coach only after 2 terrible seasons can you? Don't you need at least 4 to be really sure?

Wait a minute, where is the media outcry about not giving Johnson four years to get his own players and build a foundation and shit? VT is fucked. No coach is going to go there now.

Yeah, I didn't hear McDonough and Bilas talking about how Johnson hadn't been given a fair shake during the Va. Tech v. Miami matchup last Wendnesday?

Giving a coach 2 years is sure to set a great precedent for future coaches.
VT will be terrible again next year. Their players flat out suck. Why prolong a disaster? Just cut your losses and move on.

This guy (Johnson) may suck but I legitimately think giving a new head coach only 2 years may come back to bite them.

Good news is the prestige we get from having an AD who is an NCAA bigshot. Having him not pay attention to business is such a small price to pay.

Virginia Tech just hired and fired James Johnson in a two year span, they will not be going after any big time name, that's for sure.

Money. And opportunity. Big time college coaches are not pussies.

There are two ACC job openings - Wake and Va Tech. You're a good coach at an okay program. One school let the previous coach get 4 years to get his recruits in and develop them. The other school canned the coach after two years, giving him maybe one recruiting class. Who do you choose? Keep in mind, after rising to the ACC and then being let go, you taking a big step back down. Even if money is the only factor for you - you maximize your money at the school with 4 years.
