Bz Says He Will Continue to Improve the Program, Dan has Resurfaced!

If someone honestly believes Ron Wellman hasn't contacted Jeff [Redacted] over the past few days then I've got bridges to sell you.

^^^ this ^^^

It sounds like Wellman and others made it clear to Bz a few weeks ago that he's done, but that for the good of the program or whatever, they'll call it a resignation. Then, he beats Duke and wins the first ACCT game in years. Bz starts to convince himself that his teams have improved each year and that he shouldn't have to resign. In Wellman's mind, though, nothing's changed -- Bz is gone. What we're seeing now is that Bz has decided to take the squabble public, especially since he doesn't want to be left in limbo.

As long as he's HC, he still has shit to do, like recruiting (technically speaking). Hard to hit the recruiting trail when your boss thinks you're gone but he hasn't actually fired you yet.

Sports knowledge is irrelevant Patchouli Head. This is common sense. The intent was to fire BZ, but the $$$ isn't there for a new hire.

Bz takes a significant cut in pay and soldiers on.

I guess we'll see who's right soon enough, but I dig that you're taking the "I don't need to know anything about sports to offer my dumb opinion" approach.

Common sense would also dictate that Wellman is hedging right now by not firing Bz til he has a couple candidates lined up, and hitting up the big donors for the war chest. The $ angle is really dumb when you consider the future lost revenue by retaining Bz, and I don't think the Trustees would allow that to happen, even for another season.

All of your "pizza buttfucks apple" and "Premier Wellman" and other buzzwords you've trumpeted HILARIOUSLY for the past couple years amount to exactly nothing in the real world in which Wake sports operates.

Wellman made a mistake in the hire, has been loyal to a fault, and will shortly reconcile that. I'd wager just about anything on that.

I've never uttered nor typed out the words "Premier Wellman."

Those quotes mean nothing. He took the PC route. Do you really expect him to say, "I was fired two weeks ago! I don't know why I'm still talking to you, Dan!" If he was coming back, his statements would have been much more confident.

“My staff and I are continuing to work as hard as we can to continue to improve this program, which made great strides this past year,’’ [Redacted] said in a phone interview. “Nobody has told me otherwise. That’s the truth.
“Right now that’s what we’re doing, and I don’t know what else to say.’’

The bolded part shows you one way to interpret the quote.

Why would Bz even give him a quote. If he knows he will be fired tomorrow he should just decline to comment.

I don't think this proves that [Redacted] is coming back, but I do think that this makes it tougher to get by with a "resignation" instead of an outright firing. Not that any of the PR surrounding the basketball program has been passable these past four years, but a resignation now would be particularly hard to believe.

bzzs lawyer was probably like yo buzz what's the plan for next year I gotta get paid you want me to call my wnba contacts and get this rolling? And bzz is like well I haven't been canne yet. And agent is like, really? Shit. Well lets get something in the papers so we know one way or the other. There's a spot for the Houston comets assistant and nba d league opening up which you could be a top 15 candidate for, but we can't wait around forever

Oh right, it was Papa John. Apologies. Wouldn't want to tarnish your comedic reputation.

Regardless, I would also like to apologize for thinking you were trolling since you seem to genuinely believe [Redacted] will be back, and are tying that opinion to "common sense."

So true.

I think he may be back, yes.

Possible that Dan published this article to throw some fuel on the fire...may get Wellman to issue a statement if the noise is loud enough...

Believable to whom?

The distinction shouldn't matter to most fans, I would think.

I think this is exactly the point of the article.

I do not like Jeff [Redacted]. He has barely spoken to me, nor any donor the last 4 years.

But I feel for the guy here. Very unfair for Wellman to leave him in the lurch. This is 2014. Wellman has a cell phone and an internet connection. No excuse for this delay. The fact that Wellman has not called him at all is unacceptable.

Does he even know/remember your name? I understand that he cannot remember the names of some of the more prominent donors (read...those who make significant contributions) & those donors are a bit put out by that.
