Official Hoops Coaching Search Thread - Welcome Danny Manning!!!

And what does "I am the source" mean? Shit, is he Shaka Smart himself? Or the lawyer writing the contract?

And people wonder why twitter gets a bad name...well, this and stupid people only interested in porn.

It means HE IS THE ONE THAT KNOCKS!

Honestly guys, I apologize. I'm out of town and I'm just getting smashed and following all tweets because it's Monday and I'm in a hotel all alone.

And we are to believe a guy with a twitter handle of "pip spicks?" LOLers

That's an unfortunate handle. I know it's "pips picks", but come on, you're a news reporter. You're supposed to be PC!

Goodman currently breaking/confirming Kelvin Sampson to Houston.

One's credibility on Twitter is directly correlated to whether they think Shaka is going to make us happy or not.

Hard to think Borzello would've put that out there if he thought there was a good chance that there was fire to the smoke

Makes you wonder what we could do without our overpaid AD and pres....

I just posted this on the Pit but will repost it here because it provides a look at the financials for 2011-2012. I think the money should be there for a big hire but maybe not?
Here's a look at Athletic Department financials for the ACC schools between 2011 and 2012. Wake is at the bottom in terms of revenue (despite being 4th in attendance  ). But we're 3rd in terms of profit generated:
Total Profit
1. Virginia - $6,839,869
2. Virginia Tech - $3,752,954
3. Wake Forest - $3,586,168
4. N.C. State - $1,370,235

07 is right about Marquette having fewer athletes to pay for, basically because they don't have football. Then again, they don't receive the tv revenue generated by being in a BCS conference.

Keep in mind, Wake had to pay Dino for 3 years (I think that came to about $2 million total), pay Grobe's buyout, pay Bz's buyout (no one knows how much that will be), and Wellman got a big payday not too long ago.
"The $3.24 million reported for Vanderbilt's David Williams and the $2.44 million for Wake Forest's Ron Wellman were driven heavily by payouts of deferred compensation amounts that had been accumulating for more than a decade, according to the returns and other information provided in response to requests from USA TODAY Sports.

But even including only one year's worth of the annual average portions of the deferred money, the returns indicate that Williams - who holds multiple positions at the university - and Wellman are among the nation's highest-paid AD's."

How the fuck is wellman still around after all these fucking buyouts?

Doesn't the AD have great lawyers?

On of my buddies knows Shaka and is really tight with someone in Shaka's inner circle, texts with him daily, etc. I had him ask for me today what was going on, and he said he has just gotten complete silence back. Not even a "can't talk about it" response. He said any other day dude texts him back in like 5 minutes, so something is definitely up.

My buddy says he would be shocked if it was Marquette. He said Shaka is super loyal to his assistants, and a big reason why he didn't go to UCLA was that all of the assistants are east coast guys, so he would likely have to jettison one or two to get west coast recruiting traction. In addition to the other seemingly weaker aspect of Marquette, he was thinking that he would still have to let an assistant or two go. Who knows what is going to happen, but it is more food for thought.

Yeah man. Plus, he mentioned "subscribers" = people paying money for "insider" info

I don't even want to think of a world where we had to pay [Redacted] to resign

This is the first/only somewhat realistic #scoop I've heard on the situation.

For all we know this is the Marquette version of Deman and Shaka is his version of Izzo.

FWIW, Meyer tweeted out after reporting Shaka to Marquette was very close that assistants might not be on board with the decision.

Apparently Shaka's top assistant Rhodes would be first up for promotion should Shaka leave
