NFL Offseason Thread -Tom Brady beats the NFL

Right but the fact that it is still going on is bc he appealed. He should have just taken his lumps and moved on.

Here's hoping that blank says fuck it we need a pass rush, even if it's an angry gun carrying one.

At the time the appeal was definitely the right decision. If the Rice tape doesn't come out then he plays the whole season and has his trial in the offseason. There was no way for Hardy to know what would have happened and most people don't just accept a conviction when there is a legitimate chance to be found not guilty.

In hindsight he should have accepted the conviction and the two game suspension that would have come with it and he would have been pretty much immune from the Rice tape fiasco.

Apparently, there are people in the NFL who believe that the football D'Qwell Jackson intercepted was deflated by the Colts, not the Patriots.

That's, um. That's an interesting theory.

incognito signed by the bills

He can still play, but he's bat shite crazy and can't control himself. From a legal perspective it'll be interesting to see what happens if he sexually or otherwise assaults someone. The Bills could be added as a defendant in the civil suit for a negligent hire.

Rex is either the best possible coach for Richie or the worst and I can't decide which. The disaster potential is enormous.

Definitely one way to look at it. But really, if you think you can beat a misdemeanor rap, you shouldn't have to sacrifice 10% of your NFL career to do it.

Welp, looks like he paid off the GF. She was a no show at the hearing this morning.

I guess it did pay off to sit and beat the rap. However, I don't think you can really categorize it as 'sacrificing' his career since he got paid. I would GLADLY 'sacrifice' 10% of my career to sit on the couch and get checks, and I make slightly less than $13MM a year.

Marshawn Lynch's stick is getting old rapidly.

McCown likes Trestman and Trestman is now in Baltimore. McCown himself even said Baltimore is a natural fit. I think at this point in his career he wants to set himself up to get in coaching and Baltimore is a much better place for him to do that than the shitshow that is Cleveland and constant turnover that occurs in Buffalo. Hell, he may even prefer holding a clipboard and cashing a ridiculously large check for doing basically nothing at his age rather than risking injury in any of the starting jobs he actually has a chance at. Not like he's winning a Super Bowl with any of them.

Why are we even talking about this? The dude is a career scrub

Might as well have a convo about where Jimmy Clausen and Matt Cassell will end up this offseason

I bet the McCowns' dad just hates the living fuck out of Archie Manning.

Wow- Eagles calendar has Riley cooper as the picture for February. Wrong on so many levels.

Eagles quickly came out and said they have nothing to do with the calendar lay-out or publication.

Ray Rice's contract has us in salary cap jail. With the 1 year exception of Marc Bulger, we've never paid any serious $$ for a back-up QB, and this year won't be an exception. Why sit behind Flacco for $1mil when you can compete for a starting gig/mentor a young guy for $3-5mil?

McCown will not get 3-5mm. At best, he will get backup money with the ability and incentives to win a starting job.

Wenning will be backup. Ravens only keep 2 QBs on roster. Drafted Wenning last year in 6th and kept him on practice squad whole year. If Flacco gets hurt(never missed a game in career) we are screwed anyway. May as well have a backup making league minimum.

That's a really stupid thing to do by the Ravens. What if in week 10 Flacco sprains a knee that will keep him out 3-4 games and they're in the playoff hunt? I know I'd want a guy who'd at least give the team a chance to win a couple of those games. McCown at least keeps them competitive.
