Also Bud, a big part of your rant was about the Mets not handing the ball to Familia. They didn't do so because he was away for the birth of his son. Had absolutely nothing to do with him pitching the days before.

"ETA: And another thing. Evidently closers today cannot pitch one inning on three straight days now....or even to one batter to get the final out on that 3rd day. What a bunch of overpaid candy-asses play the game today. The Mets have one of the best closers in the game this year....a guy who already has 18 saves and a 1.21 ERA...but because he pitched one inning on Thursday & Friday, he can't pitch a 3rd inning today...or even, evidently, to one batter to get the final out after the Braves tattoed the two sloths that the Mets brought in for the 9th inning to score one run and place two more men on base. The Mets blew their 3-1 lead and they are still playing. So, for the money these guys are paid a guy cannot pitch 2 1/3 innings in three days now? At times like these, I am always reminded of this:"

I got Kershaw back in, but had to leave Felix and Scherzer out. I guess that the Mets are going to stick with the 6 man rotation for now since Harvey is only getting 1 start. Kind of glad he isn't getting 2 starts since he is not pitching very well, and the Mets bullpen is a mess.

Carlos Gomez scratched from today's lineup. I had 270,000 left to fit on my starting lineup so I just switched Gomez for Stanton. Hope he gives me a boost

8 changes remaining

Haven't read anything about how Harper is doing. If he is going to be out then I could keep Scherzer in.

Looks like he will DH a couple games.

He is in my #2 Rookie league. He is in 6th place one spot ahead of me. Thought it was odd he still had 17 picks left. Was stunned after taking a closer look to see he hasn't even made a weekly line up change all year! He had an incredible opening day roster. He should be kicking ass and still could if he would just manage his team. I have seen some crazy things but this one beats them all.

I don't understand why someone even bothers to enter a team if he is not going to make a single lineup change all year. What is crazy about this particular situation is that he has been able to avoid getting killed in his pitching categories. To me, that's by far the most important area of "managing" your team. You really don't have to do all that much with hitters....as long as none of them gets hurt, but pitching is a completely different situation.

(Of course, if a person managed his team like I've managed mine this year, he would probably have been better off to do like this guy has done. LOL.)

I almost think he must have had a family event. Opening day roster is just too good for someone who doesn't care about playing. He is an experienced player unless someone made up the roster for him.

Well, I am not a happy camper tonight. I can't watch the NBA finals tonight since the picture is scrambled. The only reason I have my local cable company is they block me out on locals/nationals with my direct tv. They also jack up my internet bill if I don't carry both. So I am paying over 2oo hundred a month and still can't even watch the playoffs. My anger is a carry over from the $1310 bill I got today for four stitches to my pinky finger. How can you fucking charge someone that kind of money for 4 fucking stitches? Took them out myself today...probably saved myself a few hundred dollars.

Well, it certainly was nice of Washington to bring in Storen with a 16-1 lead to give up a quick three runs in the 9th tonight.[/QUOTE

I am last in runs, rbi's, BA, and era tonight. Maybe more I couldn't look....down at least 11 points in 1 night. This game can drive you crazy when all your gains for a week can be lost in a night.

Since you are getting into golf so much....but are temporarily on the "golf DL" with that finger....you should go over to the "2015 Grand Slam Contest" thread and PM Sleepy an entry in that contest. I think that contest for the 4 Majors every year is the best thing anyone has ever done on these boards. It's a lot of fun. All you have to do is pick a 6-man team with a point total of at least 400. (The points are assigned roughly according to the Vegas odds of winning the tournament.) And it's going to be especially enjoyable this year, since the tournament is being played on the West Coast (and on a course like has never been used before in a US Open...it's more like a British Open course...and it's going to get crazy if that course dries out any more than it already has), we are going to have prime-time viewing on TV every night for the next 4 nights. You need to put your team together tonight or in the morning, though. You say that you don't know the players...but I find it hard to believe that you haven't followed these guys enough to put together a team....especially since it's free...this is just for fun....by just casually following the game. There's no money involved, but having a team increases the enjoyment of watching the tournament. Take the plunge! :)

My team has a definite "international flavor" to it. My six guys are from six different countries: Australia, Japan, Sweden, France, Ireland & South Africa.

I like to play, but watch very little and probably couldn't name 10 current players. lol Couldn't name a player from the countries you mentioned for example.

I could have played today though I chose not to. Finger is about 80 percent and it is my pinky on my opposite hand. :) Just feeling really down right now. A big group went to General Burnside Island State Park today and my usual playing partner said it was the prettiest course he has ever played. That surprised me since it is not that far away and we have played some really nice courses together. I have to work the next 3 days, but will be off a couple weeks after that....going to head up North and play some golf and visit some family and old friends.

I recognize 4 of those players but didn't know where they were from other than McIlroy

Have a very odd team this year. Will have a great week then a bad week...just keeps going. lol Getting closer to the break and am still holding around the top 10 in my league. That was my goal a few weeks ago but can't help thinking I should have been much better.

Carlos Martinez

Considering Picking him and his 2.80 era, 85 Ks, and 690k salary. He has two starts next week, and I can drop Dickerson, who got put back on the DL again.

Then again, I'm also considering Sonny Gray, Gerritt Cole, and Chris Archer

Martinez has been stellar for sure. Great pickup if money matters. If not then Cole is the must guy to have right now, imo. I already have Gray and think he will continue to be solid. I think Archer will fade a little but should still hold his value for the price. (a guy you needed to have from the get-go to really score with him) Cole is pitching like everyone thought/hoped he would last year....real deal, imo.

If Jason Day could win this thing today I would make a huge jump with my CDM golf team. Right now I am 7-50, but only one other team in my league has Day. (The guy leading my league.) I would move to 2nd in my league if Day wins. Only 10 other teams in the Top 100 overall have Day....and only 4 of those are in the Top 50 ahead of me. And two of those are just barely ahead of me in 45th & 49th....and who don't have Dustin Johnson....so if Day should win today I could conceivably jump all the way to 3rd in the overall standings. The Top 4 overall pay $5000/$3000/$2000/$1000. This is the 6th tournament out of 14 in the contest.

A perfect finish today for me would be Jason Day winning with Dustin Johnson finishing 2nd.

I will be rooting for him. Mind boggling he can even play much less play so well.

I should make a big move even if Spieth or DJ wins and Day can finish 3rd. I have all three of those guys. However, everyone has Spieth and close to half the teams have DJ, so I would make by far the biggest move if Day could win.

Also have Snedeker, whom only about the same number of teams have as have Day. He's back around 10th or 12th at +1, but if he could have a 68 or so today and finish close to the top 5 it would help, too.

(Still can't believe the circumstances involved in making that last switch to Day/Snedeker. It was one of those "spur of the moment" decisions that was made...literally...within the last 60 seconds before the deadline cutoff.)

ETA: I've also made a nice move with my CDM mid-season team in Week #2. Ended the first week 22-400 (525 total teams), but I've moved up to 12-312 going into today's games. All of my Fantrax teams are dead in the water, though.

I'm not where I thought I would be with my Fantrax teams starting the week. I'm still in the middle of the pack with 9 purchases left. That is about as many as anyone and more than most. The last few weeks has been more about who I have in rather than who is on my team. (more bad luck than mistakes) Travis being out so long has really hurt. Walker has not produced and has been out for several games. That 430k that Travis saves is what I really needed the last few weeks. No doubt I would have done much better starting a hurt Travis then playing Walker. Had to leave out pitchers that were awesome this week. Still, not knowing what will happen it is dumb to go with a player on the DL when you have a healthy player to take his spot. There is no reason for me to think I can't be in the money in all 4 of my leagues. Just good decisions and a little luck is all that it would take. :)

Good luck today!

The finish of the US open was really disappointing. Hate to see a player choke like that since it will probably follow him forever. Have to say I ended up thinking the choice of course was awesome. Wasn't on board in the beginning, but it forced players to use all their tools. You had to be a 3 tool player to score on that course. (always hated the longest drive wins)

Really got beat up this week. Fell all the way back to 16th place in my Gold. I have to find a way to score some runs and catchup on saves. I shouldn't need as many purchases in the second half as the first. We are getting close to the halfway point and I have 9 left out of 17. Just struggling to find players who fit my team that would help my team.

7-38, wow I'll take it.

Still torn about what to do this week. Should I pick up a 2 start Carlos Martinez or should I pickup one start Gerritt Cole? All but two of my pitchers have two starts this week except Scherzer and Keuchel (who is in my flex pitcher spot). Think I'll go with Martinez this week and Cole another week when he starts twice. I have a purchase burning a hole in my pocket with Dickerson to the DL

Putting Pollock in for Betts sure didn't work out this week lol...Betts with 18 hits and Pollock with just 4 hits.

I haven't even started working on my team yet. I have 9 purchases left so it wouldn't be too early to use a couple...I just don't know what to do since I never dreamed that I would fall so far in one week this time of year. Maybe I should just hope my players play better next week or that I have the right guys in my lineup. This can happen when you start over-managing your hitters.
