2016 Football Recruiting Thread - Notes from NSD Press Conference and Reception

He probably doesn't want to have to start shaking defenders before he gets to line of scrimmage

Yeah. None of this year's backs are legit ACC types.

Deac94, obviously there is no way of knowing for sure, but with this de-committ, do you think we use the scholarship this year or roll it to next year? I know we are probably still going hard after Collins either way. I also know we are over the limit with ships for this year. I wonder if the staff still has some high value targets that may be worth a go at.

My best guess is that Wake will take another WR, even if it isn't Collins or Donald Stewart, and another TE. The TE will probably be a 2-star that is currently committed to a non-P5 program. The TE thing is interesting because recruiting at that position went quiet after the Chapman commit. Something changed. Should be interesting to watch.

It will also be interesting to see how much flexibility the staff has going into the recruiting "end-game" in December/January. I don't think you want to go into that period needing a guy, but it sure would be nice to be able to take one if a really good opportunity presents itself. This might be a crazy time with uncertainty at UVA, VT, USCe and maybe more.

Even with Wakefield leaving the class, I still have us with 95 projected scholarship players for 2016. That's before you consider that 5-6 fifth year seniors probably won't be brought back. That's also before greyshirts are considered. You have to think there isn't much room left.

We have a stable of running backs . Add Reid and Carney to this years crew. Fuck him and Harry Giles too.

You left out arguably the best rb in the state in Beal who is going to be a stud for us.

Since Wakefield has gone and we have an opening, might I suggest Graham High School's Daniel Graves...He is teammate of Jamie Newman and committed to WSSU...Not only an outstanding RB but has returned 6 or 7 kickoffs for TDs...We haven't had a real return threat in years...

A division II commit?

We have Greg Dortch committed to us already and I'm pretty sure he's going to be a legit return guy.

Tremayne Anchrum to Clemson. Wake was the early leader but never got an official visit. Clemson came on late to beat out Nebraska.

I remember reading something somewhere about a local recruiting guy saying that he doesn't think that Beal will ever play for Wake. Think the gist was that he ultimately would get attention from bigger programs and would commit there. Just can't find where I saw that now.

I thought he was already getting interest/offers from schools such Duke, UNC and NCSU.

Also thought he grew up a big Wake fan and said he always wanted to play there, hence the early commitment to just get it out of the way.

yeah. I don't think that there is any validity to it necessarily. just something that I had seen. Wish i could track down where I saw it.

I'm not sure since I don't know the source, but I think there is a difference between "bigger football programs" and Duke/UNC/NCSU, even though UNC is having a great year.
