I have no recollection of the Challenger explosion from my youth. But one of my friends from college said she remembers being in Kindergarten and being taken outside to watch the launch (she lived in FL), and then the teachers trying to usher them inside super fast after the explosion.

Decided to take a break from drinking/weed/heaters for at least a week but maybe longer. Longest Ive gone without drinking in the last 10 years has to be 4 days or so. This is going to be hard.

Big Johnson

The 90's t-shirt game was STRONG.

The redneck kids in my school loved them some Big Johnson shirts. Also those college hats that were like FU (for Furman), COCKS (for South Carolina), and Morehead State.

O-Lineman liked to wear the Arkansas "HOGS" one.

oh man scooter is gonna be so pissed

well he said that people who buy cheap Lenovos are just going to be disappointed and eventually spend stupid money on an Apple, and I was looking at the cheapos for sure.

I care. I'm ready for a new laptop but probably don't need anything too powerful.

this is what I bought: linky

Not pissed, just deeply saddened and concerned for my friend who has been duped into buying a substandard product and is doomed to suffer the consequences...

well that sort of refutes my post right up thurr. the interwebs told me that cheap computers and mostly all the same and just choose a pretty one. I went for more RAM and a bigger hard drive #sizematters

Is there anything wrong with a refurbished Lenovo? My current system is from 2012 and runs really slow (4GB Ram, 256GB storage, 1.9Ghz)

Seems like I could get a nicer refurbished Lenovo for around $300. All I want is to run Office, Quicken, and Netflix.

It's probably no surprise, but refurb products make me #nervous. I'm sure it would be better than what you have though!

going cold turkey on AOTA is harder than just one at a time

trying to quit cigs made me smoke so much more weed at the time

and there's nothing quite like a cig after a bong

That wasn't EXACTLY what I said, but at least you were paying attention... It is true (IMO) that when you are at the bottom of the price range, computers become more like commodities - they all start being the same. I believe a cheap Lenovo is still going to be more reliable than a cheap Dell, but I am biased so my opinion doesn't really count. But at least you got the pretty one! Good choice to maximize RAM as that impacts performance more than processor speed these days.

I also have a Lenovo, but it's not tied to my valuation of scooter as a poster.

A friend of mine had a brother who was an alcoholic. He was constantly getting in trouble cause of the booze. Eventually he needed a new liver and they weren't gonna give it to him unless he stopped drinking. He managed to quit so he could get that new liver and started his life anew. Of course he eventually went back to drinking and had a horrible, tragic death but the point I'm trying to make is, you can quit if you really want to.

I'm considering one because of scooter. But to be honest, I doubt RTQ will be negatively impacted by not following his advice. She probably just needs it for tumblr and makeup tutorials on youtube, you know, that kind of girl stuff, so she doesn't need a real computer.

That doesn't really sound like the moral of that story.

It does, though Townie, prove that the liver isn't what causes us to drinks.

MAKES YOU WONDER.

I'm posting this on all the boards because it is IMPORTANT:

Well that's what I got out of his life story- that even though alcoholism is an illness you can quit if you really want to. Can't do that with other illnesses like cancer.

TIL that drugs make your arms fall off, and alcohol makes your liver fall out.

Oh well, the purchase is made, and I couldn't find comparable specs from Lenovo within my budget. What I gleaned from your earlier post was that low-end Lenovos aren't that great of machines. But yeah your other point was valid, that it's not fair to compare a $500 machine with a $1500 machine.

lulz I'm not dash (sorry dash! <3)
