Presumably OFFICAL 2015/16 Premier League - Leicester CHAMPS. Best Sports Story Ever

holy fucking shit how was that not a penalty?

this is one of the most dominating 0-0 matches I've ever seen

Blackburn and Shearer in 94-95? I think they had just been promoted two or three years before that after like thirty years outside of the top flight.

Blackburn spent a TON of money though - they built something of a super team. Leicester hasn't really done that.

Trippier (who has been brilliant) finally gets his first Tottenham goal. Alli was just subbed on and provides the assist.

Kevin Wimmer (AUSTRIA SHOUT OUT) has been very good the last two matches in replacement of Vertonghen. All of the defenders that Pochettino has bought the last two years look like they were excellent signings (Dier, Alderweireld, Davies, Trippier, Wimmer). Guess it shouldn't be too surprising that a former center back knows how to spot good defenders.

Watford will nick one late. Lamela is not good. Dele Alli is legit.

Just to double up on that - Blackburn paid an English record fee for Shearer, and then broke that record to get Chris Sutton. That SAS strike force was the most expensive (at the time, obviously) in the history of English football.

Sure, I just meant that it was a similar situation when it comes to a team that hasn't been a traditional power dominating the league and winning the title.

Also, I don't have the resources or desire to look to much into this, but didn't Leicester spend a lot of money in the last three years? I remember thinking they'd make a run out of the championship several years ago which never materialized.

Yeah, they did spend a fair bit of cash - all the PL clubs are so rich these days. Just maybe not on proven elite PL players like Jack Walker's Blackburn did. They were kind of the original Chelsea or Manchester City - a rich guy who badly wanted a PL title and spent a huge pile of money to make it happen.

I don't really have anything invested in my take, so I'll give it to you.

Looking back across the Champion's list, however, it does still (and probably will forever), look an anomaly.

Defeated.

Interesting comparison in this match between Prödl for Watford and Wimmer - Prödl plays ahead of Wimmer for the national team (he's older and been in the squad since the 2008 Euros) ... but Wimmer looks the more comfortable and higher ceiling player. Austria has a very good group of young talent right now.

Yeah, they finished 2nd the year before that as well - had a really strong stretch at the start of the 1990s. Jack Walker was an interesting character - was a billionaire who lived in tax exile and at the end of his life basically poured huge amounts of cash into his favorite football club so they could win a title.
