NFL Offseason Thread: NFL Draft - Rams pick Goff #1

...and there is a nerve damage element to his injury that is a big question mark. See: Peyton Manning. Blood supply is also a concern. If I were a GM, I'd stay away until I got to a point that I had addressed team needs and could afford to roll the dice on him. Would also need a friendly contract. All this from an awkward step after getting shoved in the back. Poor guy.

If we can't trade up in the 2nd, perhaps we could trade up in the third to get Cyrus Jones. I also think Ashawn Robinson is a beast that was under-utilized at Alabama.

The Jacksonville sports station had a guy on yesterday that said micro fracture surgery is only about 70% successful and that number includes the CPA sitting at his desk all day.

Jack's insurance policy should at least net him about 5 million if he falls out of the 2nd round.

That Bong pic probably is a $10 million pic, in what it cost him in initial contract slot money.

It's always possible that GM's just didn't agree with ESPN. ESPN was hell bent on Tunsil being the best tackle in the draft, but that certainly doesn't mean he was. It's always funny to me when fans freak out because their team, and in this case several teams, disagrees with the pencil pushing nerds at ESPN that have been cramming their mock draft rankings down our throats for months.

possible but NFL Network was saying the same thing

They have all been wrong before. Quite frequently, actually. At OT no less. Greg Robinson hasn't been around long enough to be considered a bust yet, but he certainly is on his way. (For the record, I thought he was a freak too, which is partially why I'm no longer second guessing letting guys like Tunsil drop)

That doesn't make sense. Robinson was drafted 2nd overall. All the networks (and the NFL teams) had him high on their draft boards.

There is enough conversation between the media and the NFL front offices that while its possible for 1 team to really overvalue a specific player (like the Dolphins with Pat White, or the Cowboys with Quincy Carter), I don't think it is hard to develop consensus of who the best players are. Its why a player dropping is a fairly shocking occurrence. Without looking back, I don't recall a ton of guys picked to go to the green room ending up there after the 1st round- only 1 or so a year.

I didn't realize we had access to that information. And the networks having them high on their boards is the entire point.

It doesn't really make sense for people to be outraged that their team didn't pick a player like Tunsil when it could have been for several reasons. Approximately .000001% of fans watch game film to evaluate all of the OT's in the draft. The reason why people get mad is because the network guys hype players like Tunsil up so much. Few people are actually making that decision based on their individual analysis, so they're left with canned quotes from people like Mel Kiper.

Dr. James Andrews weighed in on Myles Jack and says he won't need microfracture surgery.

Are you assuming Seattle is going to draft Henry?

I assumed that was going to be the pick last night with the last pick of the draft, especially when Boomer seemed like he was tipping the pick per usual, but it didn't happens so I was happy about that since I'm an Alabama fan but absolutely hate the Seahawks.

How did you deal with Shaun Alexander?
