Official '15-16 NBA Season Thread: THEY WON ONE FOR THE LAND

RE: Adams

He rebounds, he defends, he doesn't do that much on offense other than set screens and dunk, and he fucks with your head... he's like a new age Rodman?

That's the easy one. But he has more offensive potential than Rodman had. He's also legit 7-0. I'll have to think about it more, but there haven't been many 7-footers as physical as him but not two-dimensional since the 90s. He's got a Laimbeer type toughness, but obviously not that type of game. The best ceiling/comp I can think of from the last decade is Joakim Noah.

Thunder played 2 bigs out of Adams, Ibaka, Kanter (45/48 minutes) pretty much the entire game against GS. Really interesting stuff.

Well yeah. Because they had 3 bigs who can play with the Warriors. Not many teams do. You can bet they wouldn't have if they still just had Perkins/Collison instead of Kanter.

Deman says he is really interested in Wake.

Yes we did and I just watched him play against our guys and he is the best guard I have seen that we were recruiting with the possible exception of Robert Johnson and that would be a close call

this is what i thought the spurs would try. outrebound to make up for 3>2. basically no one saw kanter being playable like that and he wasn't during the season until the spurs series.

Steven Adams was acquired by the Thunder via the Harden trade, ppl forget that.

Long Con by Presti here, is he a genius again?

and kanter still looks awful on defense for stretches, but at least he gets burnt for 2s instead of 3s right?

Well he certainly has the coach to utilize that skillset

Haha. Good point.

Adams, Ibaka, and Kanter give OKC the toughness without the ball that the Spurs couldn't have gotten from LMA, Duncan, and Diaw.

It looks like the Dubs may struggle with a team that can force them to go big with more than just a #1 or #2 option.

This is fascinating. I'm rooting for the Warriors this series, but I'm mostly rooting for a team to run train on the Cavs.

In all seriousness, I think this all just proves that Scott Brooks is very stupid

OKC also got a nice game from the Waiters/Roberson wing pairing tonight. That spot has been a general weakness for OKC (for years) but they got 7/9 shooting and better than expected defense in 51 minutes from those two

Steven Adams on why he attacked the basket late: "Honestly mate, no idea. Yeah, no idea. That could have went absolutely tragic."

Love him. He tripped Danny Green on purpose, but I love him. Joakim Noah is a bad comparison as Noah is a fantastic passer and Adams is not. Adams is Rodman with 3 or 4 more inches. He is dense as a mother fucker. You bounce off him unless he is making a point and he takes a dive. He is Rick Mahorn, Dennis Rodman, Tree Rollins, and Too Tall Jones rolled up into one bigass mofo. On top of that, he moves all over the court. Wouldn't call him fast but he GETS AROUND

Rodman is an all time rebounder and could basically guard all five positions. Let's not get crazy. Noah without the passing feels more reasonable.
