Indiana Gov. Pence is VP for the Donald

Slate did a breakdown showing that Chili's ownership leans heavily to the right but it has moderate favorability among the left and right.

Behind him. He blocks her. I'm a little confused about where the grandkids (presumably) are sitting though. It looks like they're at the end of the table, but there's no seats there.

The people criticizing him for eating at Chili's are just horrible. Nothing wrong with Chili's and I'm sure he gets fine dining whenever he wants to at home because he's the freakin' governor of an entire state.

Lol

Manafort is surely up there with the Carvilles and Matlins of the world. Priebus, not so much, other than his name. I actually feel badly for him. There is absolutely nothing that he could have liked about the entire Pub primary season, and now he's the 1 in charge of selling the shite sandwich.

Priebus is a dweeby bastard, but he's done well for himself. Could never get elected statewide even in WI and will be the fall guy for Trump's inevitable defeat, but will still make a ton of cash as a lobbyist. Not bad for a guy best suited to be a swarmy Pizza Hut assistant manager.

Pence is one loyal soldier. Was asked today how he could defend Trump calling BHO and HRC founders of ISIS for a day and then claim it was all just sarcasm. Pence weaseled his way out of answering, but he hasn't turned on Trump yet.

Would be an upgrade over Reince or Carly as RNC Chair. Needs to bide his time until 2020 since he doesn't get to the 2020 start line with a 2018 Senate loss (Cruz's problem). 'Pubs better find a new base in the interim since better options can't win the nomination.

Carly is now openly campaigning for RNC chair. Serious question for Pubs - is that who you want to be Pub chair? She's an angry social and economic conservative who lies at least as much as Clinton and almost as much as Trump. The direction in which she'd lead the party would be further retrenching on all the social hot button issues. Is that really where you want to go? And she's not remotely diplomatic, which Priebus and Steele are. In fact, I kinda liked Steele. Part of that job entails going on not only the Sunday morning shows but also the late night shows and presenting a diplomatic image. How in the heck would she appeal to independents?

Not to be a broken record or anything but until the angry Pubs temper the rhetoric from a social standpoint, no moderate/independent in their right mind is going to vote for them. Steele was a good guy and soldier, but got pushed aside and Priebus is not a bad guy either. I just don't think the chair has as much power as they think they have. Trump acts like Priebus doesn't even exist.

As much as the GOP pretends to abhor identity politics, they play them almost much as Dems but are just really bad at them. PUMAs who didn't like Obama weren't swayed by Palin. Blacks didn't flock to the GOP because of Steele. Carly won't get 'Pubs to parity with HRC.

GOP base is aging, undereducated, regional, and way too homogeneous. Next RNC Chair has to understand demographics, data analytics, public policy, and be a charming fundraiser. Steele, Reince, Carly, and Pence won't cut it. Until they can accept and understand changing demographics and adjust accordingly, they'll continue to lose the WH and can only block SC nominees. That game's over without the Senate. Cruz and Pence are 2020 general election roadkill, if they even make it to the 2020 primary starting line.

Carly has also failed at everything she's attempted in the last decade.

I don't disagree. Just facts. But my dad and 1 of my sisters absolutely love her. When you point out her business career to folks like them, then you get slammed for being partisan. True believers gonna true believe. My point is that she does the opposite of grow the party.

Well the problem with that is the GOP base wants to be "undereducated, regional, and way too homogeneous" and they'll be skeptical of an RNC chair who tries to bring in fancy analytics and broader policy in an attempt to broaden the base.

Ken Mehlman, not Rove, was the brains behind W's 2004 re-election. Similar to David Plouffe relative to Axelrod for Obama. Mehlman was way ahead of the Dems on analytics in 2004. Became RNC Chair in 2005, but stepped down in 2007. Reading between the lines, Mehlman, a smart gay 'Pub, realized the GOP was unwilling to modernize on social issues to broaden the party. Megyn Kelly became famous for exposing Rove's shocking misunderstanding of analytics on Election Night 2012.

Mehlman, Steele, and Reince all have some understanding of the path forward for the GOP, but consumers who still love pay phones and pagers will reject attempts to invest in smart phones now and in the future.

Wait the guy responsible for using gay marriage in 2004 to help get W elected is gay?
