Kipchoge was destined for a gold. Personal bests in the 5k and marathon of 12:46 and 2:03:05. Rupp could go under 2:05 with the right course and conditions.

NOP has received a lot of bad press but their investment in distance running has obviously been a big win for the US.

Every continent except Africa has hosted in the last 16 years.
 
it's getting harder and harder to find cities that want to host, especially winter
